MT SOHO Hostel

I wanted to like it, but it just wasn't that great :( The people are very nice and the location is good, but the accommodations fell way short of my expectations.
I'd made a reservation for the women's dorm. It was confirmed, but then I missed my bus and emailed them right away that I wouldn't arrive until the following day. When I got there I discovered that they'd given away my bed so I was stuck in the mixed dorm. The mixed "dorm" is about the size of a kid's bedroom. I paid $17 US dollars to sleep in a child-sized bunk-bed (I'm only 5'7" and my feet were at the end and I couldn't sit up since the top bunk was only about 2 feet above) with a mattress about as thick as a maxi-pad. The window --inches from my bed-- opens onto the courtyard where they were having a bbq and so all the noise and smells came directly in (because the window doesn't really close).
The "bathroom" sink is in the hallway next to the front door and if, like me, you're a woman sharing a mixed dorm, the only place to get dressed is in the tiny toilet cubicle or the tiny (wet) shower cubicle. If you want to wash your face or do your hair or anything like that you do it in the hallway. Not very ideal, to say the least.
The locker cabinet is not in the room either but also in the hall --right by the front door. Also less than ideal

Really this is someone's duplex that's been converted into a hostel. As I said, the people are nice and the location is good, it's just really small and I couldn't dig it. Maybe if you have a private room it's better.

We stayed here a few weeks ago. Had a great time- the hostel has a great small outdoor area that encourages everyone to mingle. We had a few singers at the time that we stayed so it was good fun. It's a small hostel- we were moved a few times due to mix up with the booking, some rooms are nicer than others. Very helpful staff- the younger males as the older woman doesn't speak English. Breakfast ok, showers ok, location great for all restaurants in Palmero. Basic hostel but would recommend it.

We had a great time with my friends and felt like living with my own family. Thanks to Martin and his mother. People are great. Location is perfect! Safe and nice.

They have a BBQ place and a nice living room to watch TV.
