I was a woman from NY traveling alone on a 1 week business trip. I considered the Puerto Madero area because it sounded very safe. By the time I went to book the hotel (Hilton) it was sold out. So was the Marriott and Sheraton. My local office suggested the Melia. Boy, what a nice surprise. It was a medium size business hotel with lots of english speaking folks 2 blocks from the shopping pedestrian mall and great restaurants. I felt comfortable talking walks after work even though it was dark out. There were a couple of homeless people living nearby but they were harmless and just have to realize that's the flavor of the city. The room was easy to work in with lots of good lighting over the desk and bed. The breakfast could have had more choices but the fresh fruit selection was great. The coffee was too weak so I ordered double espresso which they were glad to serve me.

Room Tip: stayed on the 8th floor which was really quiet

Spent two nights at this boutique hotel on a recent long weekend getaway. It was very warm and cozy. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. No problem if you don't speak Spanish as most Argentinians speak some English, especially in restaurants, hotels and tourist areas. The room was nice and clean and the best thing was that it is centrally located. Short walking distance to shops, restaurants and other tourist areas. I felt safe walking home around midnight after enjoying a Tango show downtown near the shopping center on main street. Don't forget to bring a power converter as they do use 220. The hotel lent me the equipment to convert the current from 220 to 110 so I could charge my laptop and cell phone.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher room with a view of the city. Some rooms face the alley where folks gather outside...

The Hotel is very well located, allowing you to move around for sightseeing or shopping without the need for a taxi or any other transportation. This is actually the third time I stay there and certainly will continue to choose it. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff is extremely nice and co-operative.
