In a neighborhood flooded with gourmet hamburger and new cuisine kind of places la lechuza is like an oasis of tradition and good meat.

I had an excellent morcilla and then bife de chorizo at very reasonable price.

Beef was ok, not great. Service was efficient but not particularly efficient (even though there were only 3 other diners). Really hot (no air con).

We stumbled upon this on our first day in Buenos Aires and were so glad we did. It is charming- eclectic decorations and paintings of owls everywhere, the service was good and the good delicious! We started with a plate of local cheeses, olives and salamis and I had then had homemade meatballs while my friend had a salad. All delicious and I would love to go back again.

La Lechuza is very close to where we stay when in Buenos Aires, and for several years it was an old favourite where we'd eat a couple of times per week.

On our return this year we noticed that there had been a radical change in staff. Unfortunately, the change has not been for the better. The dish we shared was still good, but that cannot be said about the service. Unusually for a Friday evening, La Lechuza was less than half full, yet several customers found it difficult to gain the attention of one of the young waiters in particular, who was more interested in playing with his phone. Promptings from the lovely owner resulted in a desultory efforts on that waiter's part.

Sadly, La Lechuza is no longer a bustling local eatery full of charm, and it seems that its regulars have voted with their feet.

We ate here because it was close to our hotel. We thought that it was similar to the La Lechuza we had dined in when we were in Patagonia. It wasn't and the food and the service were not great.
