“Good value, especially for the area”
Reviewed 31 March 2012

Stayed one night while in town for a Cactus League game, and compared to other accommodations in the greater Phoenix area, this was definitely a good value. Property seems to be new or to have been recently renovated/redecorated and was very quiet, despite being on a major street. Beds were comfortable; continental breakfast was slightly better than average; front desk employees very friendly & helpful. Generally a positive experience.

For a low price, this Comfort Inn has a lot to offer. It is clean, comfortable, has a continental breakfast, and a very friendly capable staff. Main Street in Mesa at this location will benefit by the continuing changes for improvement to the area. It is not too far from the Sweet Tomatoes Restaurant we enjoy in Tempe( a chain that provides many vegetable salads and other foods with good nutritional value). We enjoyed the Mexican food in Apache Junction that Nellie recommended. It was not a grand restaurant, but certainly had good food in an area that had the simple lifestyle of thousands of people flocking into AZ on a shoestring. Snobs should not make the trip or eat the food there. The very down to earth atmosphere was a treat. I left the Comfort Inn with hugs from the staff. That is in no way stuffy! NBellie will make you feel wanted and will go all out to do everything she can for your having a great stay. Go for it!!!!!!

We chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and were a bit leery of what the location would be like since some reviews had commented on it being in a shady part of town. We were soooo pleasantly surprised to find it to be not shady, in our opinion, at all. It is downtown Mesa and downtown is older but it was clean and well lit and right by the Mormon Temple. We felt very safe; the parking lot is well lit. The rooms and the facility were very nice, like new. We enjoyed the hot breakfast. Our toilet was flushing by itself but was fixed immediately. We loved our most comfortable beds and the room set up. Have to give a plug to Queen Pizzeria which is a few blocks away, also on Main Street. The best pizza we have ever had, and we eat lots of pizza!! We would stay here again and highly recommend it. And, the business center is separate and the computer is super fast! And, the price was extremely reasonable!

This hotel is a nice property and a great value. During our visit, their most expensive room was cheaper than the cheapest room at the Hampton Inn a couple of miles away and I would have to say the the rooms are comparable, having stayed at both.

When we arrived to check-in, the gentleman at the desk asked us to wait so that he could finish up some paperwork. It took about 3 minutes for him to do so. I have to admit that I started to have doubts about this hotel as this is not a great way to start off, but fortunately everything after that went well.

This hotel is less than 3 years old and everything in it is clean, clean, clean. We opted to spend an extra $20 for the deluxe King suite featuring an in-room whirlpool and are glad we did. I was surprised by how big the room was. There were separate flat-screen TVs in both the living and sleeping areas which was a nice touch. The room included all the usual amenities for Comfort Suites - refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, coffee maker, etc. All rooms are non-smoking. Noise was not a problem, and the Heat/AC worked perfectly.

Lots of mirrors were nice. Carpets in the rooms and halls were clean and there were no musty or chemical odors to deal with. Decorations were tasteful and in good condition.

The bathroom featured granite (or engineered stone) countertops, backsplashes, and shower paneling. There is a tub in the bathroom if you need one. Water pressure was adequate, though not great. Curiously, the shower head did not have adjustable spray patterns - something you normally get at a Comfort Inn. I think the hotel management should re-think that. The shower had a curved shower curtain rod. I saw mounting holes where the previous shower rods were, so these may be recent upgrades and I can't speak to whether other rooms have them. The lavatory is inside the bathroom, so it is out of comission when the bathroom is in use.

The bed and bedding were both very comfortable. But what is up with these mini-pillows? We supplemented the hotel-provided ones with a couple from Wal-Mart on Stapley and then we were fine. Still, this is one area where they might do better.

The 2-person whirpool filled quickly - much faster than we expected and was a nice luxury for my wife and me.

I did not have the opportunity to use the pool, fitness room, or breakfast areas while there.

Location was OK - about 7 minutes to the closest freeway. It would be convenient if your main attraction was downtown Mesa, the Mormon Temple, or a Dairy Queen (next door). But there is not a lot else around there. The neighborhood seemed a bit sketchy, but we felt safe inside the property.

While the hotel normally charges a $1.50 safe "convenience" fee as noted by another rviewer, you can ask and they will remove the charge from your bill. They were happy to do so for me, and they even have a note in the room saying that you can have the charge removed if you don't need use of the safe, so I didn't consider the fee to be a problem.

The only maintenance issue we encountered is that the sink stopper did not work because the rod became detached. That was a minior issue that we reported to the front desk at check out. Everything else slid well, closed well, opened well, or fit well.

We checked in Dec.17 and checked out Dec,19,2011. The Inn was next door to The Mormon Temple and about 6 blocks front the middle of town. David was at the front desk and happily checked us in. The room was twice the size that we expected. The room had a king size bed and TV in one room. The living room had a sofa bed, desk, microwave, coffee maker, small freezer / refrigerator and another TV. The bathroom was a good size. We utilized the free internet computer room and enjoyed the continental breakfast. You are going to like staying.

Pillows could be fluffier. Other than that, if you want a clean, modern and friendly hotel that is inexpensive to boot, this is it! Flat screen tv and quiet rooms make this my choice when in the Tempe/Gilbert/Mesa area of Phoenix.

While the area appears to be a little shady (across from a bail bonds), we were assured that it's a safe neighborhood and we were on the second floor, making it feel even safer. I loved that I was able to open the window to let in fresh air. The price was reasonable and more importantly, the service was friendly and all amenities were available. The beds, pillows and linens were all clean and comfortable. Great breakfast - plentiful and varied options.

Nice place to stay and I would have enjoyed staying even longer!
