The double room was spacious; the bathroom was a bit tight. Location on the main street near the pier is excellent - restaurants and tour companies are within a short walk. The breakfast choices are very good; there is something for everyone. Free Wi-Fi is available. There was usually someone at reception who was fluent in English.

Room tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quiet.

The room is specious. It is ok, staff is friendly and breakfast is above average of what I tasted so far in Argentina. It is centrally located. My only criticism is the WIFI...its poor.. sometimes it works... more often not.

The room was large and waterfront view. Breakfast good dinner first night chef off so 4 choices just ok. We read that buses where plentiful from the airport which is far away got there and if you didn't book ahead unable to take it, had to taxi it and not cheap. Nice lobby and next to restaurants and companies to book excursions. Stayed 2 nights my husband not too happy with small bathroom and the elevators next to our room banged all night long. Only 1 station had English on the TV thank goodness for wifi. Wakeup call for 4:30 am on time. First night full moon beautiful and the sun came up over the water right from our room.

Room tip: View of the pier and water

The stay started nicely with a warm welcome from the staff at the reception. And it went down hill from there. The room is large and recently renewed. The temperature outside was 34C and, when I asked for air conditioning, I was told that there is only air ventilation (in reality, on the 3rd day they finally activated the aircon). A 4 star hotel in a seaside location in summer cannot keep the aircon off to save money (considering rooms costing around 150 USD per night - we stayed 3 nights) - everywhere in the hotel was unacceptably hot. And opening the window was not an option as flies started entering the room. The room was clean. The bathroom has no air extractor, which does not mix well with the hot temperature. The location is very good and the breakfast options are good for sweets and below average for savoury stuff (only ham, cheese and scrambled eggs). They have a gym, jacuzzi and sauna which I did not use.
The nice surprise has been for breakfast where a lady reproved my girlfriend for taking 3 bread sticks (grissini) and telling her that anything taken out of the breakfast area would have been charged to the room. Seriously? 3 bread sticks? Restaurant staff should be trained to know when people are trying to be crafty (e.g. preparing sandwiches for lunch) as opposed to when you just enjoyed something and wanted to give another bite later in the morning (considering that the bread sticks were for me and I only had coffee that morning).
Bottom line is this place is never going to see me again. Should improve their facilities if they want to deserve 4 stars. I have not slept 2 of the 3 nights due to the hot weather.
Above all, they should train their staff to understand that the hotel makes money thanks to their guests and should not treat them as thieves. This made the overall experience extremely unpleasant.

We booked two nights here during a recent trip to Argentina after reading the good reviews and it was exactly that: good.

Hotel Peninsula Valdés doesn't look fantastic from the outside, but is actually nice on the inside. Good front desk staff, nice-sized and clean room and bathroom, and convenient location with parking.

I wasn't a big fan of the breakfast though with stale scones and average other cold choices. And I was really not impressed by the "spa" since you have to pre-book even for the whirlpool. Kind of irritating to not know that until we got downstairs in our swim gear!

All in all, a perfectly fine stay in Puerto Madryn.

Thank you so much for the precise description of all the services. We are so pleased to know that you have had such a nice stayed in our hotel.
We are going to take a look at the scones...thank you for telling us.
About the spa, we don´t have other better way to organize the shifts, but it is good to know to try to improve our service.
Thank you again.

Best regards, Leandro
