“Flies galore and needs an update”
Reviewed 1 March 2012

Beautiful landmark hotel with dated room: beds had depressions where the bodies go. In the dining rooms there were flies galore and serving china was dirty. Other lovely properties in Bariloche to choose from and choose one of those.

Hotel with excellent location, unbelievably beautiful public areas like lobby and floors, though the rooms are very small and old (well, this is a character hotel with history, but still...). The service was not always 5 star, although good. The main restaurant was closed due to low occupancy (volcanic ash, which was hardly a problem during our visit). Try the very good restaurant "El Boliche de Alberto" for an excellent parilla some 8 km. away..
The pool is extremly shallow, no fun to swim, which is a shame considering the views from the pool. Excellent cocktails at happy hour in the afternoon. To sum up: worth the money but expect finding rooms very small...

Wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting. Gorgeous lobby and grounds--one of a kind. Very nice rooms with all the amenities. Food was good. Terrific shops. Not cheap by any means but certainly worth the splurge. You want to stay in the new section (nicer rooms and baths) but it can be a long trip back to the lobby from the 6100-6300 rooms. Very helpful concierge desk. Staff were very attentive although front desk seemed unwilling or unable to respond to room change request. About 30 minutes to town but you will only go there once. A very special place.

Room Tip: Try to get new wing in rooms numbered 6400-6500.

Went with my family on a roundtrip in Argentina, Bariloche was the first stop on our trip. We travelled with Blue Parallell. After 44 hours of travelling from where i come from it was fantastic to wake up to a clear blue sky, sun and a fantastic facilities.
Go there, its a long trip, and now the airlines dont fly there due to the volcanic ashes and i feel that i have to rewiev the place and hotel so they dont have to shut down

The site is breathtaking and the buildings and interiors are just wonderful. It reminded me of the old Canadian Pacific destination resorts that were built at the turn of the century, upgraded to modern comfort and convenience. The staff was professional, capable, and exceedingly helpful. They arranged a day-long fly fishing expedition that exceeded our expectations. From every window, on every side of the structures, there is something beautiful to see. The food was excellent. We would love to return some day when we have more time to truly enjoy all that the region has to offer.

Room Tip: We stayed in the newer 'Moreno Suites" and the accommodations were quite wonderful.

Gloriously situated outside the din of Bariloche, this is a world renowned setting and rightfully so. The lodge is on a promontory with beautiful outside spaces. The restaurants have stunning views. If you want the hustle of a tourist town, this is not the location for you, although you can hire a driver or taxi easily to go into town. But if you want to soak in the beauty of the Lake District, select Llao Llao.

BTW, if you are thinking of taking the Lake Crossing over the Andes into Chile, or vice versa from Puerto Varas to Bariloche, skip it. In all my years of travel, it has to be the most mind-numbing experience in memory. Bus/boat/bus/boat/bus/boat of lakes with foliage down to the waters' edge: 12 hours of it. If you want the lake experience, have Llao Llao book a 3 hour trip on the lovely, large Nahuel Huapi Lake nearby.

Room Tip: Discuss your room choice carefully with reservations personnel. The two rooms we previewed were bot...

My wife and I visited Llao Llao in Bariloche in December, 2007. The scenery all around was just spectacular. This hotel has a prime spot... I sincerely recommend you stay here. They have a half-outdoor / half-indoor pool that must be a joy to get into during their winter time when everything is covered in snow.

We did get one of their premium rooms, and it was okay, a little rustic, it's all a gigantic wooden cabin, but the bed, bathroom and all the amenities were just what you would expect from a luxury hotel.

The service was okay, and the restaurant was very nice, with plenty of local cuisine to try. We specially liked a rare-meats dish which we ordered during happy hour at the lobby bar. We also signed up for their archery classes in a beautiful scenery outdoors.

I would say that the only downside is that this hotel is a little far from town, but they did offer us free transportation at a fixed schedule during the day, and the rest of the time, you can just get a taxi, they aren't that expensive.
