The Patagonia Queen is lovely hotel located near the end of the main street of the town. We learned that the owner of the hotel was a furniture maker and that was the reason that the hotel interior had all the woodwork and beautiful furniture throughout the place. The rooms are nice and quite and the beds are comfortable. It was spring in Patagonia when we visited and everywhere in the south it seemed like the heat was turned up high. The window in the room opened and we had a nice view. Pablo, the reception manager, was so pleasant and helpful. He made us feel like we were at home and answered our every question. We stayed first two nights and then returned several days later and we were just as pleased the second time. The included breakfast was nice with a variety of choices. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces away from the street, just for the view..don't worry about noise the place is set back from the main street and quite.

Great family run hotel. Wonderful staff. Excellent location.
Around the corner from two very good, and very different from each other, restaurants.
Let us store a suit case a week before we checked in while we hiked in Chile, and the suitcase was waiting in the room on our arrival!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights during our honeymoon and I remain floored with Patagonia Queen. Rafael was the nicest person and the most hospitable person we've ever encountered. The service was top notch - he greeted us, he made us a drink (Pisco Sour of which we will never forget while also being the tastiest one we've had!), took pictures with us and put them online, and chatted with us throughout our stay. We felt like we were with friends, not in a hotel. If you are in Calafate, please do stay here as there is no way you will regret it. The breakfast is plenty, location great, rooms clean - all that plus Rafael and the staff and you have a home run. We live in NYC so trust me when I say this place is outstanding.

We had a great stay at the Patagonia Queen hotel. It is small and very welcoming with an extremely helpful front desk staff. Rooms were clean, nothing fancy but nice - nice shower with hot water. Internet could be spotty, but we found this all over Patagonia. If you go on many tours, the location is great because it is on the side of town toward the glacier - so you are picked up as one of the last, which saves some time sitting on a bus. I would stay at the Patagonia Queen hotel again if I return to El Calafate.

Positives: The tightest made beds ever (the staff could teach the military some tricks), clean and comfortable rooms, jacuzzi tubs, friendly and helpful staff, convenient location.
Negatives: The rooms were so hot at night that we had to open a window to cool our room enough to sleep. It seems a pity to waste the energy.

Due to a mix-up we ended up on a flight that landed at 1:30am instead of the middle of the afternoon. Our room was held, and a mini-trek was arranged for us for the next morning, and we were greeted warmly at 2 in the morning. It was great. After a very brief night of sleep we were given the option of either having a packed lunch or walking around the corner and getting lunch items.

We were also quoted a fairly decent exchange rate for the area- not as good as what we got in Buenos Aires but better than the official rate or anything else in the area.
