I had gone out here early last Saturday to scope out locations for a family photo session I was going to be doing that afternoon.

So many different trail offerings! I MUST go back to try out others, as I only explored one little section.

Clean restrooms.

Great place to feel like you are miles away from it all!

Head to the McDowell Sonoran Reserve for easy to difficult hiking trails and a great vantage point for AZ sunsets.

Have done the loop hike a couple of times in September and with the heat, its hot enough to be pretty challenging. There isn't a HUGE elevation change, but big enough to get some views.
Of course bring some water, but there is a fountain at the trail head.

Hikes for all ages and abilities available at this wonderful Preserve on the edge of Scottsdale. Plenty of locals walk their dogs, walk and run these trails. Plenty of free parking at Gateway Trailhead with a building with bathrooms and water. Be prepared, take lots of water, wear good tennis shoes or boots for the trails marked moderate and difficult, lots of rocks so you will be challenged even if you walk regularly, this isn't like a sidewalk unless you stay on the nature trail near the Trailhead.
Your resort may have a booklet of all the local trails, get one so you can pick a trail for you.

A mildly strenous hike. Well marked, good maps, many trail options beautiful area. Easy enough to do a short or long hike. Remember to bring water!
