We had quite a but of fun here with our large (7 kids) family. The pool was heated but being late December that could not quite make up for the frigid temperature! Don't miss the delicious donuts and pastries which were offered two of the seven mornings we were there. The resort although fun was a bit limited in activities for the little kids. The few activities seeme too expensive to take advantage of. The zoo, railroad park, and other fun things to do here are a good 30 minutes away.

Thank for a great review of us! We love to hear about our guests that are able to break away from their everyday life and really relax! Especially with such a large family we can understand why every quiet moment was special for you! We do try to have a variety of activities for all ages available but can understand that even a minimal fee could become expensive when you multiply that by 7 children! The next time you are headed into Scottsdale, please feel free to reach out to our Activities Director about what activities we will have available that week. We would be happy to work with you and your family to ensure you can enjoy everything the Desert Oasis and Scottsdale has to offer! Thank you for sharing your experience and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

We just came back from a week of vacation in the Phoenix area - and loved coming back to the Sheraton Desert Oasis every night.

The rooms are well appointed, very clean and spacious. The bedroom has a large king bed with a large Jaccuzzi tub in the bedroom. The Living room, dining area, and kitchen aprovides plenty of room for 2 people.

The resort is only seconds to the 101 Loop, which provided for easy access to the freeway system.

The resort staff are very friendly and they offer many activities during your stay. There are even clean outdoor gas BBQ's avaialable to grill a steak if you'd like to.

We loved it here and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Thety are all good rooms.

When we checked in to the hotel room it was late at night, I thought the floor plan was a little weird. I've never seen a shower round. It does have a small kitchenette. On the bed there is a funky shape towel that looks like an animal with 2 candies, when I removed it from the bed to go to sleep there were 2 small bugs from it. I was so disgusted and was wondering if it was bed bugs. But that night I really didn't sleep much thinking about the bugs.
My boyfriend called the front desk for a wake up call. The next morning comes and no wake up call. It was a good thing I also programmed my cell phone for the wake up call.
The TV in the bedroom is really high on the wall where your tired looking up near the ceiling. I don't know why it really is so high close to the ceiling.

What really sets this property apart is the STAFF! They are terrific! Attentive to your needs, willing to run up with an extra cookie sheet, or a DVD movie (borrowing is free), coming up with fun crafts and stuff to do all week... I give them 5 stars for sure! The welcome pack was one of the best I've received. LOTS of really helpful information. NO high pressure on the time-share. They ask if you are interested, and leave it at that.

I enjoyed the wine tasting on Tuesday evening; and highly recommend it.

There have been plenty of accurate general descriptions of the property. I'll focus on the handicap accessible part, since my husband has had a stroke:

We chose a regular 2 bedroom suite. (There are ADA handcapped accessible suites available; CALL RIGHT AWAY to reserve one, since they get a lot of requests). The deluxe (premium) one bedroom has a large walk-in shower (one small step). It has 2 shower heads (no grab bars to hold on to). The efficiency has a tub/shower combo that would be VERY tough to get into if you have had a stroke. Either room can accomodate a wheel chair/small scooter. Some of the dishes/bowls are tough to get to in the large one bedroom, unless you are very tall. (However, because the staff is so great, I'm sure you could just call, and they'd come get whatever you need).

There are a couple handicap parking spaces in each area; since there are so many seniors here, it would be nice if they had a few more. The paths from the room to the main buidling (you have to go outside, and it is not under cover) are cement. There are plenty of ramps.

To get into the pool, you need your key. If a person was in a w/c by himself, it would be almost impossible to get in the gate.

The elevator can hold a w/c or scooter, plus a couple people and a couple bags.

All in all, this is a great place; and we will be back, for sure!

Room Tip: If you want a veranda that has sun; call ahead and ask.

We've stayed at the Sheraton Desert Oasis 3 times in the past 3 years and have loved it. We travel with my parents and then my family of four (Kids 6 and 3 now). We love the Sheraton for a number of reasons:

1) the rooms: my family normally gets a one bedroom king that comes with a full kitchen, table and seating for 4, sofa bed, king sized bed, jacuzzi tub and bathroom (with shower). My parents normally get the queen one bedroom that comes with a kitchenette with smaller round table with seating for 4, sofa bed and tub/shower. The rooms connect, so it is perfect for our families.
2) the pool: the pool is wonderful and large. There's quite a bit of seating around it, as well as a splash pad. When my daughter was 1 and 2, that's all she wanted to do! They also have a snack bar there, which sells food and drinks.
3) the location: although a little bit of a drive from the airport, this is in a great location. There are lots of restaurants, grocery stores (COSTCO is pretty close too!), and there's a park across the street with playgrounds and trails for running. The hotel has a playground too.

We love it! It is a mainstay for us when we travel to Phoenix.
