I booked this property through RCI during Spring Break Week. I was given a handicapped room with no oven and a combination washer/dryer, which wasn't the best (I didn't need special accommodations--just "luck of the draw)." The microwave was also a convection oven, so that was sufficient. My "view" was of the parking lot and 101--you might want to request a mountain or courtyard/pool view. The location is wonderful, and it is very easy easy to get to a lot of places of interest. The SDO is about half a mile from 101 (watch out for photo radar speed trap as you come off od 101--the speed limit on Hayden Road is 40 mph) and it's about 2.5 miles to the amazing shops of Kierland Commons and several shopping plazas that contain Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. One mile in the other direction is a Fry's grocery.

Sedona is a lovely and easy 2-hr drive. Take 17N to 260 toward Cottonwood, then 89A to get to Sedona "the back way." Avoid Sedona on the weekends if you can! The natural scenery is stunning and there are plenty of galleries, shops and restaurants, but parking can be a challenge. It's easy to return to 17 via 179, which takes you past more excellent vistas.

Easy driving to the Desert Botanical Garden and Taliesen West, just try to avoid "rush hour" traffic" on 202 and 101. The museums and attractions of downtown Phoenix are also an easy drive.

The pool here is a great place to relax (it gets busy at about 8:30a) but the chairs are quite close together. There is a poolside grille by the main pool, and a "quiet/adult" pool a short walk from there. No restaurants on property, but there is a great variety of restaurants within 8-10 minutes.

The 1-bedroom "premium" suites are spacious, with very good kitchen items and provisions. Toaster, blender, dishwasher and coffee maker are provided. There are two gas fireplaces--1 in living room/1 in bedroom) and double sinks in the bathroom. There is a separate enclosed stand-alone shower and loo. The jacuzzi tubs in the bedrooms are apparently going to be removed in an upcoming renovation. There is a queen-sized sleep sofa in the living room.

The staff organizes a lot of kids' events, as well as information from tour providers and local artisans, and a weekly wine tasting ($15).

This is a great place for a vacation, and I look forward to coming back!

Room Tip: Ask for 3rd floor mountain or pool/courtyard view.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Sheraton Desert Oasis, and could not have been more pleased. The accommodations were absolutely beautiful with so many nice touches. The combination living room, kichen, and bedroom were laid out well, and we appreciated the extra space. The Southwestern decor was charming, and we loved having the outside patio to relax. The bed was so comfortable, and the blackout drapes kept the room nice and dark for sleeping. We spent a few hours relaxing at the pool and hot tub. That area was well maintained with plenty of towels. The only minor complaint we might have is the lack of dining facilities but, with the abundance of restaurants in Scottsdale, this was not really an issue. A very pleasant stay!

We are Starwood members. This was our first time here. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. We were in the larger one bedroom. Plenty big for the two of us, and would be fine with up to two children on the hide-a-bed. A jacuzzi in the bedroom is always nice. The kitchen has nice, up-to-date appliances, although the toaster barely handles the bread. A bigger one would be nice, a toaster oven even better to bake smaller things rather then heat the oven. There are enough dishes and pots and pans. One thing I wish Sheratons and Westins would do is add Sola-tubes to the units. The are just too dark during the day. It would be great if they did that during the upcoming upgrades we were told were coming soon. Oh, although we didn't watch a DVD, blur-ray players would probably be part of the next upgrade. The DVD players they have are great, but not if you bring blue-ray with you. The wireless internet is great. Activities vary. Water aerobics was fun. Many kids activities. Would love to have pool side trivia contests. We will return next spring for sun and baseball.

We love to hear from our loyal Starwood members! Thank you for taking the time to tell us all about your recent experience! We are always looking for ways to upgrade and provide an exceptional experience for our guests so we'll look into some toaster oven options and upgraded toaster models! We aim to please!
While we love your idea for the Sola-Tubes - those will unfortunately not be part of the upcoming upgrades. They would also only benefit 1/3 of the rooms as we could only install them on the top floors. But we have some employees that have these in their homes and really love the effect, and agree, it'd be great if we had a solution that would benefit ALL of our rooms instead of the top floors only.
We hope that you will continue to choose us as a future destination and look forward to you sharing more of your experiences with us!

Let's start off by saying that this Hotel/Timeshare Resort is a Gem awaiting a "time worn" makeover. Unlike many Timeshare Companies, Sheraton doesn't harass you about tours. Their Staff is Helpful, Friendly and Accommodating. Due to certain needs we, well in advance, asked for specific accommodations. We called the day before to verify a "Block Off" and were told it was all set. Of course it was not and the Hotel was full. The 2 Bedroom Lock off was Huge and Gorgeous. The "Lock off" room had one issue. The Tub/Shower/Spa has no grab handles or step stool to allow easy access. Our First Cousin is very short and over 50 (being polite). She left with bruises all over the back of her legs. The larger room had a walk in shower. The doors broke off and landed on me during a shower. Maintenance came up and "fixed it". Luckily, there was a drain issue the next day and they discovered that the repair was a "jury rig" that would of repeated the dangerous situation. Although the Front Desk people were Great, the communication to the Staff doing the work left something to be desired. Towels, repairs and such needed several calls. Also the Kitchen is loaded with everyday needs. Only problem ? They give you a Blue Dishrag. No sponge with a scrubby back. Some of the Pots and Pans needed a good scrubbing due to burnt on food. True, some guests are pigs and won't clean anything, but a small item like a sponge/scrubber allows we normal people the ability to leave things as we found them. The Grills were kept VERY clean and were great. The Activity Director was also Great. The Hotel should look at their Trash Company as the trucks arrive very early, make a racket and drop stuff all over the driveways. I will say that the General Manager addressed our issues and compensated us fairly for the inconveniences. Note though that I would rather have a "stress free" vacation and have accommodation promises kept rather than get Starwood Points. All in all this was a very good property. It could be 5 star, but needs tweaking. We will be back in Scottsdale looking at Retirement Properties in the near future. Will we stay here again ? Perhaps, but we would need the issues resolved prior to a commitment. Here is a link to our Scottsdale Vacation Video. We were very pleased with this hotel. The location was convenient to shops, highways and restaurants. Rooms were adequate with fast service when requested. The pool is nice but we did not have time to use the gym, however, it looked adequate.

Our family party of four adults stayed at the Sheraton Desert Oasis for two weeks from February 19, 2012 to March 4, 2012 in a two bedroom lock-off, sleeps 8 unit, namely Units 1115 and 1116, which we were able to exchanged into utilizing Interval International. We found the North Eastern area of Scottsdale location of the Resort, to be in an excellent position to use as a home base to explore Scottsdale and the Phoenix environs. It is close to many attractions: Old Town Scottsdale, a number of casinos, the Talking Stick Baseball facility where spring training games were being played, the Jobbing.com arena where the Phoenix Coyotes call home, numerous shopping centres, Frys Food stores, Wallmart, Costco for gasoline, Taliesin West and many great restaurants. Being just off Highway 101, Exit 35, made it easy to access Highway 17 to head North to the Grand Canyon; South to Highway 10 to Tucson, or West to Highway 10 and on to Las Vegas.

The units that we were in had been recently refurbished, with new comfort beds and 3 flat screen plasma TVs. The bedrooms were large, each opening onto a patio. Both bathrooms were large and both had whirlpool tubs. The main kitchen had new appliances and was fully equipped to serve up to 8 guests. Although both units totalled 1,290 sq. ft., the design of the units seemed to sacrifice the space in the kitchen and living room for the extra large bedrooms. Having two people trying to prepare meals was tricky. Each facility had an apartment sized washer and dryer. Mid-week towels and bedding and a fresh-up of the units was provided.

We arrived at the Resort at 10:00pm. Registration was open and we were welcomed and taken care of by very friendly staff. Our units were ready and waiting for us. All of our interactions with staff were always cordial and friendly, be they front office, housekeeping and maintenance.

One thing that we really appreciated was the fact that we were NOT badgered by Sheraton personnel to partake in their “information” aka “sales pitch” sessions as has been the case in other timeshare resorts that we have stayed in. We also appreciated being asssigned tot he same units for two weks which meant that we did not have to pack up and move.

The Resort provided free Wi-Fi in the villa units. Free computers are available in the lobby but they seemed to be very slow. BBQ’s are provided in a number of common areas around the Resort rather than on each unit’s patio. This is a bit of an inconvenience, especially if your home unit it some distance from the communal BBQ’S. We would prefer to have had our own BBQ’s. We tend to take advantage of them in preparing our own meals when we stay in these types of Resorts. Parking near our unit seemed to be always available. The Resort is very compact and negotiating around it was easy.

The grounds are well maintained and groomed. Two pools exist. Towels are available at both pools. The large pool easily accommodated all those interested in taking advantage of the water and sunshine. The small, quiet pool probably would also be used to capacity during the hotter summer months. Although the Resort does not have a full restaurant on site, there is a “Splash Bar” which offers a variety of food services and drinks from 9:00am to 9:00pm. The wings are super. A good variety of beers, have the “Flat Tire” with your wings, smoothies and soft drinks are offered. A small convenience store does exist in the lobby offering a variety of food and personal items. Many activities are offered, both on and off site. We did not participate in any of these but we did notice that many other guests did. Good areas for long walks or jogging exist near the Resort. A small fitness center is available to Resort guests.

All-in-all a great place to stay and enjoy the Arizona Sun!
