Incredible place, high on a bluff with incredible views but still a short walk to the beach and a little store. Easy drive to lots of adventure activities and more restaurants than you'll be able to visit. The place was clean, comfy, with lots of views. You host is in the same complex and really great about bringing anything you need by the place.
The view from the living room and deck is unbelievable and no picture could do it justice. The house is spacious and comfortable with a full kitchen. The plunge pool was bigger than expected and so refreshing. It was cleaned daily as well. The Villa is perched on a major hill up a dirt road with lots of bumps. 4wd is helpful. It did seem that all the hills in the area also had bumpy dirt roads. The beach is right across the street but it is easier to drive to due to the hill. The beach in front of the Villa is beautiful but a bit rocky. We went to Playa Hermosa (about 5-8 minutes down road) for a sandier beach. But there are so many great choices for beaches. We also went on a kayak tour through the mangroves that was great. We visited an animal sanctuary and a reptile center. Also we enjoyed Uvita Waterfall. It is close by and has two pools to jump in and swim. Our hosts Amy and Storm were friendly and Amy stopped by to describe local attractions. We had a few questions during our stay. They did get back to us eventually but it took awhile. Also on arrival the entrance was locked which is fine but we were not told about it. It was stressful for the driver to try to find out how to get in. We received a bag of lovely coffee, a bag of cookies and bottle of wine upon arrival which was a nice touch. The Villa had a locked gate and security guards so we felt safe. But also we did not feel that the area was unsafe. I would stay here again if I returned to Dominical.
Easy walk to the beach, market, and a really cool waterfall where you can swim. A short drive to lots of adventure activities and restaurants. Storm is a great coast and lives nearby if anything comes up. His wife Amy is super helpful booking the best activities. Incredible view, comfy and versatile two-story space.
The photos don't do this home justice! All the amenities you could want in a home rental with a pool near the beach, mountains and tons of activities. And the sunsets - wow! Owners are wonderful people, gracious and helpful with a real understanding of what vacationing families want. My husband and I took our three kids - ages 17, 15 and 11 - as their Christmas gift. Absolutely no regrets. Everyone was happy! We would do this again in a heartbeat.
We spent our mornings on local excursions recommended by the owners:
1. Drew's Secret Waterfall Tour (with jumping from cliffs) and Lunch - $55/pp
2. Osa Canopy Zip Lining with 2 KM superman zip- $55/pp
3. Snorkeling tour to Cano Island with lunch - $130 each
4. Don Lula's Horseback Riding Tour to Nauyaca Waterfalls for swimming with breakfast on the way and lunch on the way back. BTW - you are pretty much guaranteed to see monkeys because the tour operators put out bananas for them during your breakfast - $70/pp
5. Quad Tours from sea level to 4500 KM through coffee fields with waterfall swimming
6. Inshore fishing for up to 6 people for 4 hours just off the beach by the house. My husband caught more fish we could eat and the captain cleaned and prepped them for cooking for us - $450 total
7. Alturas Wildlife sanctuary at Villas Alturas - you will see parrots, sloths, monkeys, anteaters and more - $25/pp
Other local options we didn't get to included surfing lessons, deep sea fishing, whitewater rafting, mangrove kayak tours, "waves and caves" kayak tour and waterfall rappelling.
We came back to the house after each morning activity to eat lunch (although lunch is the big meal of the day in CR so we ate out a few times) swim in the pool, rest and walk to the nearby waterfall to swim. Then we headed out for dinner or cooked up our catch. Tortilla Flats in Dominical and Jolly Roger Bar in Uvita were great dinner spots shared by lots of Americans. Each offered live music on certain nights of the week. La Macha, Por Que No and Villas Alturas offer much more local dinner atmosphere.
You will definitely need to rent a car. And get all of the insurance you can because all roads off the main "highway" are steep and rough.
We had the best vacation ever. There was something for everyone. We will go back as soon as we can.

The views from the villa were amazing. The views in real life were much better than pictures can even explain. Storm greeted us shortly after our arrival. He was very welcoming. He gave us some great ideas for excursions. I highly recommend the ATV tour, zip-lining and the canoe tour. All were totally worth it. We also visited Storms bar, Jolly Roger's. Great food and awesome staff. Wayne was so nice! I loved his dog Maggie :-)
I would return to stay at this villa for sure. Having coffee everything morning with these views is something that I could get used to. Villa was spacious, clean and was very private... and the mini pool was perfect. Thanks Storm, we hope to return again soon.
We had a wonderful stay at Storm's property. The home is comfortable, attractive, and well-maintained, with special features like a small pool and a large porch with a stunning view. It was a short drive to Dominical, Uvita (nice farmer's market), and several beaches. You will need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get to the home and access other interesting places (like Storm's fun restaurant, Bar Jolly Roger). We enjoyed just hanging out on the porch admiring the view and doing some bird watching. We would definitely stay at this property again!
