We spent two nights in mid-October at Hacienda Baru, staying in a poolside room. The room was spacious, clean and well-lit. There is no wifi or TV in the room. It does not have air conditioning, but the ceiling fans made it comfortable and the windows have screens. The bathroom was fine, with warm water in the shower. The bed was comfortable. The pool was excellent - just the right temperature, and big enough to get some good exercise. The outside shower by the pool was good.
We ate several meals in the restaurant and they were fine - fairly typical Tico food. The prices in the restaurant seemed reasonable. The price of the room seemed a little high for mid-rainy season. The trails are extensive but were partly flooded, as expected during the rainy season. Hiking to the lookout is worth the time and effort. We also walked to the beach, which is not a swimming area, but it was amazing to have the entire beach to ourselves.More
