Our recent stay at the Tree of Life Cabinas was nothing short of PERFECT! These newly constructed cottages are nestled on a jungle mountaintop complete with a captivating view of the Pacific Ocean. The sleek, modern designs throughout the property have the feel of an upscale B&B while the rustic backdrop allows one to appreciate the natural beauties of Costa Rica. The cabinas are just the right size for a couple or two friends traveling together. The décor is contemporary and minimalist, emitting a relaxing vibe. The vessel sink and outdoor shower added to the charm and as Nate pointed out, the separate room for the “facilities” keeps the romance alive! Our king bed was big and comfy. Opening the large windows at night provides great ventilation and a relaxing breeze while falling asleep. The rooms are equipped with a safe, mini fridge, and coffee maker along with Costa Rican coffee.
The grounds of Tree of Life are well-manicured. There are walking trails for guests to explore the various flora and fauna such as toucans and butterflies. Our afternoon by the pool was one of our favorites. It was clean and refreshing and also has an ocean view with beautiful sunsets. For a more adventurous swim, hike (or drive) to the waterfall just down the mountain from the property.
Perhaps the greatest amenities were the hosts, Ben and Nate! Ben was extremely helpful and responsive to our email inquiries as we were preparing for our trip. Ben and Nate were both very knowledgeable about the area and were of great assistance booking tours, making dinner reservations, and recommending activities. Ben is an AMAZING chef and makes breakfast and/or 3 course dinners for guests with adequate notice. His food was delicious and decadent. Examples of the tasty things we ate include pretzel crusted pork tenderloin with candied orange (and Grandma Bright’s garlic mashed potatoes via Ben), and tuna with a ginger-wasabi aioli. This was the best tuna we’d ever had- no kidding! One of my favorite apps was the zucchini butter which was very healthy and actually contained no butter. On the dessert end of the spectrum, our favorite was the Costa Rican Coffee Brownies! These were to die for. Ben and Nate were excellent company at our breakfasts and dinners and we genuinely enjoyed our time with them. Thanks again, guys!
If you are considering staying here we urge you to do so! After doing our own research, we honestly believe you won’t find a nicer place, especially at their very reasonable rates.
