La Casa del Mundo is easily one of my favorite hotels that we've ever stayed in. It is a beautiful and unique place that makes it pretty impossible not to relax. They have hammocks and balconies all over the property and have plenty of places everywhere to sit and unwind. You can enjoy amazing smoothies, coffee and other beverages and food and I rented a kayak for an hour to explore the lake and views of the property. Each room has at least a mini balcony with great views of the lake and volcanoes.

One of our favorite things was the family style dinners. This setup allows you to meet the other couples at the hotel -- it is family style, so you only get a regular and vegetarian choice for food, and it is okay, but the highlight is chatting with new people from all over the world. You have to reserve dinner spots on the website during booking - and you don't really have much choice since boat access to the hotel is closed around 7pm.

We loved this hotel! It's truly unique and feels authentically Guatemalan!

Room Tip: Room 17 is a bit on the small side, but enough space - great balcony on top of this room.

Stopped for Brunch at Casa Del Mundo on the way over to the other side of lake Atitlan. Food was very good.
Very nice views of the volcanos and all the towns across the lake.
Also rented a kayak for an hour and cruised the shoreline.
Lots of fun!!!!

The hotel is only accessible from the lake, so take a launch from Panajachel. The rooms climb a cliff side location, it is a wonder to have build this on such a site. The views from the rooms and terraces of the lake and volcanos are fantastic. We spent one day just on our balcony. Launches take you to other sites on the lake. It is a unique place. Service people always wear a smile, and the evening meals are very good.

Room Tip: The rooms just over the office are very comfortable and easy to access. Some higher rooms require climbing a lot of stairs.

Last summer in 2017 my husband and I stayed at Casa Del Mundo for 3 days. The weather was mostly cloudy with some rain, but as we approached the hotel by boat, the weather soon became insignificant to us. Casa Del Mundo shone in heights and layers of beautiful, Spanish architecture nestled against a mountain side of flourishing tropical gardens and lush trees lingering over rock walls and paths of winding stone stairways. The view from every angle was like standing at the top of the world. The restaurant decor and outdoor patio oozed with a restful and exotic atmosphere of charm and colours amidst the stunning lake view and delicious food. The evening meal is served family style so all guests come together to eat a lengthy number of courses with different options available for each evening. The rooms are extremely clean and the authentic decor depicts the culture wonderfully. Our room on the restaurant level had a newly renovated bathroom with a large double shower. One of the highlights was soaking in the large stove-heated hot tub at the water’s edge with the stars overhead and the waves hitting the wall beneath. There are lots of spectacular walks and safe swimming areas on and nearby the property with a variety of water sports equipment. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and added tremendously to the enjoyment of our stay. The prices are affordable for the average traveler's budget, yet you'll feel pampered in this one-of a kind extraordinary setting. I would recommend Casa Del Mundo for anyone wanting a unique and restful retreat away from it all.

Room Tip: If you have trouble climbing stairs, you may want a room near the restaurant. Our room was but it did not detract from privacy or the view.

this hotel property is the most unique my wife and I have ever stayed at. It is accessible only by boat on the shores of beautiful Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. There are 91 one steps from the dock to the first rooms. Don't worry, the staff will help with luggage.
Once there you can be as secluded as you wish to be. But, you can get to other places along the lake easily and cheaply with the ever present water taxis.
The food on the property was great. As was the staff..

Room Tip: All the rooms are very inexpensive. Ask for one with a full bath and lake view.
