“An Awful Experience”
Reviewed 14 May 2011

As a previous reviewer noted, the service was awful and the people seemed way out of their league. The people working there talked all sorts of trash among themselves. More on that in a moment.

This place was relatively comfortable and clean, but it was way overpriced at $89.95 plus tax. There is no Internet connection except in the very uncomfortable lobby, accented by personal banter between the employees. There is also nothing there like a continental breakfast. In the room the metal housing for the tissue dispenser fell off the wall and scared my partner from just the noise.

The restaurant was OK. The waiter was pleasant, and the food was fair - lousy vegetables, but the entree and salad were quite good. There was music coming from the kitchen area that was awful.

The strangest thing was one of the employees in the restaurant who brought us our beverages. He looked like something out of Central Casting for Scary Movie. I'm sure he was trying to be "cool", but he wore a baseball cap, on sideways. Looked like a dork and very unprofessional.

I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Room is shabby - tv's inoperative, ice machines don't work, no one including an extremely rude manager named Vicki Bright, is of any assistance. Oh yes, coffee machine also doesn't work. Beds are hard as a rock, bathroom dirty and all this for just under 100.00 per night. The rooms and the management are disgusting.

Having decided to go to the Grand Canyon at shortish notice, all the hotels within the Canyon Village and Tusayan were booked. But if the same happens to you, you could do much worse than stay here.
The Inn is situated on the 64 at Valle, about halfway between the Canyon and Williams. This means it is a very convenient 25 minute drive to the Grand Canyon itself. The Inn is basic, but as another reviewer pointed out, five star city centre perks are not really what the Grand Canyon is about. Also, if booking via their website, do each stage carefully, as I found it a little ambiguous. We meant to book 2 rooms, but found we had actually booked one room with two beds. However, this was my fault rather than the hotel's; the room was easily big enough for the five of us anyway and a fold out bed was provided and brought over free of charge.
As I said, the room was very spacious with a nice, clean bathroom and sink and comfortable beds. A coffee maker was provided, but no fridge. There was also an air conditioning unit, although we did not need to use it as the temperature was comfortable. The view over the fields from our window was very pleasant.
We had breakfast in the restaurant on our first morning, and found the staff very friendly, the service good and the food tasty. On our next two mornings we bought supplies from the Chevron shop next door, which had a selection of bread, milk, jam, ham etc which did us for breakfast and also picnic sandwiches for the Canyon. The store also had a large gift shop with a very good selection of souvenirs, jewellery, tshirts etc.
There was a TV, but on the nights we were staying there the reception was playing up - not unexpected in a remote location. We never did get the wifi to work, but this was not really a problem as that wasn't really what we were there for.
One thing to watch, if you are used to more cosmopolitan surroundings, is that everything shuts up at around 9pm. This is clearly pointed out on the website and you are asked to ring if you plan or find you are going to arrive after 9pm. But you might want to bear it in mind if you plan to eat in the restaurant on returning from the Canyon.
All in all, we found the rooms spacious and clean, and being a 25 minute drive from the Grand Canyon was extremely convenient. It meant we could stay at the Canyon till well after sunset and still be back not too late. The staff were friendly and we had all we needed. We had no complaints at all, and were sorry to leave.

This hotel is nothing special, but was clean and comfortable for a good price, and is well located 40 minutes from the Grand Canyon on the junction with the Flagstaff road. This is well worth bearing in mind if the town of Tusyan right by the Canyon is full as it was when we tried to stay there.

The adjoining restaurant serves good simple fare, and does close quite early by European standards (be in by 8.30pm). There isn't anywhere else to eat as this is the middle of nowhere.

We stayed at the Grand Canyon Inn in Valle, AZ for one night because there was nothing else available in the area of the Grand Canyon.. Little did we know that it would be our worst stay of a 2 1/2 week vacation. The building that we were in was very dated and did not feel clean. After checking in we met a couple from Belgium that warned us about the unfriendly staff in the inn's restaurant. They mentioned the waitress was rude, prices were high and that the waitress had added a 20% tip to their bill without their permission. The next morning we joined a line of people waiting for the restaurant to open for breakfast. When we went to sit at a table for two the waitress come up to us and told us we couldn't sit there and to sit where the tour group was sitting. We told her that we were not with the tour group and she said "you have to leave". We said that we had a room at this hotel the night before and asked why we would not be allowed to have breakfast, and she said that the breakfast was for the tour only without any further explanation. We informed her that we had paid $89.00 (before taxes) for our room and didn't understand why we were being thrown out. We told her that we had never been treated so rudely in a restaurant in our lives and her answer was"WHATEVER"! When we approached the desk person about our treatment in the restaurant we received more rudeness from him. It was a very upsetting morning and needless to say we do not recommend this inn to anyone!!!!

The Grand Canyon Inn is listed as being in "Williams", but it is actually in a smaller town named "Valle" which is a half hour CLOSER to the south rim than any of the hotels in Williams. This sealed the deal for us, because we were driving in in the afternoon, hoping to see sunset and then wake up to sunrise in the canyon. We only had one day. The hotels that I looked at in Tusayon, though much closer to the Canyon, were much more expensive.

Valle is a pretty small area with a truck stop/gift shop, a restaurant connected to this hotel, and the Flintstones Bedrock Village. The rooms were decent and clean, just your typical motel room. I really enjoyed being able to walk right up to our room after hiking around the canyon - we were exhausted!

Service very poor, not polite to guests. Wiffi available but too slow that it is not useable.
everything incluiding restaurant closes too early (21.00) they accept guests in the restaurant only until 20.30 hrs.breakfast starts too late (07.30)
I think that they have too many guests per year that they do not their best anymore to keep them!!!
