The hotel was as expected. Old, outdated and overpriced but good location and shuttle service. Front desk staff was very helpful. The low rating is due to the poor treatment received from staff in the bar/restaurant. Several bartenders were extremely rude and we were guests of the hotel. After tipping 20% we noticed when we got home that the bars were already including a 15% gratuity. This was noted on receipt that we signed but not near the area where you write in your tip. Needless to say we were shocked that after receiving 35% in gratuity from us we were treated so poorly. Don’t go there as it is decidedly overrated.

We had a one night stay to meet some friends and family for dinner and drinks. The Basin was in the perfect location with an easy, quick walk to downtown restaurants and shops. Very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the billiards bar very much after an exceptional dinner at a local restaurant. Highly recommend!

Very cool old hotel with great charm. Old creeky floors and a little bit on the spooky side, but very cool. Nice bar and restaurant. Elevator is very small and with covid only one party allowed on elevator at a time. Thats all theres room for anyway. We had a jacuzzi suite. Tub was HUGE! Great street view. Would definitely stay there again.

We spent 2 nights in room 217 on the Spa floor and highly recommend. Small room yes but but who uses anything besides the bed,tv, and bathroom? Plush fine linens on a comfy king bed, very clean beautiful bathroom with the biggest best whirlpool tub we have ever seen. huge flatscreen tv, new curtains. Cool breakfast box delivered every morning and right by the AVEDA spa!

We booked a girls trip for the weekend and spent around $500 for a two bed room with no view. At first glance the rooms looked clean, but the shower revealed some gunk leftover from overspray from the shampoo and body wash that had been there a while. The only friendly staff was the woman who checked us in and the concierge who was happy to help us with anything. The bartenders were pretty rude in both the bar and restaurant and our waitress forgot about us. The jacuzzi deck which was a big selling point for us was closed, maybe due to covid, which I feel should be disclosed to guests before they book. The real problem for me was the $100 in extra fees you have to pay which is suppose to include activities at The Crescent Hotel, when we took the shuttle up we were told we could not tour or use any of the facilities, they were for Crescent Guests only. We weren’t even able to eat at the restaurant. We could pay extra and come back for a ghost tour, so I’m unsure what the activities fee covered. Due to covid and the historical nature of the building it is one family only in the small slow elevator, the stairs are narrow and steep and I wouldn’t suggest for anyone with mobility issues. The pros for this place is it is on the heart of the town and can walk to stores, restaurants and bars. I also really like the breakfast voucher. There are some really nice places to stay in this town and I think we’ll have to try somewhere else next time as this place was really disappointing.
