What an AWESOME experience! If I could give 6 stars, I would. We could not have had a better time while Staying at Matti´s and Guðrún Eva´s cottages. First of all, they are super nice hosts and willing to make your stay as pleasant as possible, really helpful and nice to talk to. Secondly, the cottages are super cozy, with all the comfort you need and we loved how quiet it was! Thirdly, the sauna and the hot tub (after a recommended meal at the Skyrgeðin restaurant) was AMAZING! We watched the stars from the hot tub before soaking in a real wood burning sauna and we LOVED it! We highly recommend this place, plus Hveragerði is also an awesome town with a lot of places to visit and nice to walk around. TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!

This place was so much better than anywhere else we stayed. The cabin was really clean and cosy, with everything we needed and more. The surroundings are fantastic, amidst pine trees with views of the snow-capped mountains. There's a wooden hot tub outside and our host, Martein, got the fire going in the sauna as we soaked and gazed up at the night sky. He and his wife were really welcoming, and we wished we were staying here longer. I'd recommend this as a great place to stay while exploring the south coast of Iceland, with Reykjavik just half an hour away and lots to do and see in the vicinity - natural hot springs to bathe in, horse riding and much more. Would definitely go again, and stay a few more days.
