Iceland is expensive; this is an affordable friendly guesthouse not far from Geysir and Kerid (two of the four 'must see' stops on the Golden Circle route). Once you get close to the village of Reykholt there are a few signs to point you in the right direction for the guesthouse.
Plus: Large kitchen to share with other guests. Some basic breakfast ingredients are provided but what's unusual is that you have the facilities to cook pretty much whatever you want to.
Note: There are two or three clean shared bathrooms (i.e. shower + WC) for the five or so guest rooms.
Rooms are fairly small, the bed was comfortable (or was that the jetlag providing us with a good night's sleep ?), free low/mid-strength wifi in certain parts of the accommodation; there was also an outdoor jacuzzi we didn't use but some of the others staying enjoyed.
I would recommend this guesthouse for a one night transit, not sure it has enough appeal for a longer-term vacation base but if money is a major factor in your decision making you should certainly consider it.More
