“This is how I pictured Ireland”

My husband and I recently shared an absolutely wonderfully short stay in the River Room at Bayly Farm. From the delicious breakfast to hiking a designated trail on their magnificent rural property (they offered us their boots!), bed & breakfast owners, Desmond and Jackie, made this experience very special and memorable for us. Thank you again for going out of your way to make us feel so welcome.

Huge rooms, enjoyable walk, and knowledgeable hosts await you at Bayly farm. With only a few rooms available, it is a very intimate experience.

When my wife and I planned a recent 9 day self-drive tour of Ireland we decided we wanted to stay in farmhouse/B&Bs so we could meet the Irish people and gain an understanding of how they lived. Without question we agreed that our stay at Bayly Farmhouse near Nenagh in County Tipperary was was our best experience in Ireland. Jackie and Desmond Bayly run this family farm, still raising potatoes and cereal grains. But they have opened their home to visitors and you will never find more gracious hosts. As we understand it, the house was constructed in 1810. But it is an elegant and beautiful home. Jackie welcomed us and showed us to our very large room with windows looking out over the pasture where calves were grazing and frolicking. The bath was en suite and featured a great power shower along with a large soaking bath which was very good for me after a long day of driving on the wrong side of the road. The bed was king size and incredibly comfortable with extra pillows. Breakfast was great, featuring fresh fruit, home made brown bread and eggs with bacon and sausage. Jackie gave great recommendations for dinner both nights we stayed here. The first night we went to Larkins Pub in Portroe on Lough Derg about twenty minutes from the farmhouse. Great atmosphere in a beautiful location and incredible seafood. The second night we were referred to Orchard Restaurant at the golf club in Nenagh. The chef, Geoff, took an unbelievable amount of time to stop and talk with us and give recommendations for our remaining stay in Ireland. And he served some incredible food with perfect presentation. And Geoff added to our experience by recommending we go to Paddy Rohan's Pub for music later in the evening. The Pub was our best experience with the Irish people. It is a small neighborhood Pub and the people who come in are almost all locals who know each other. But they took these two strangers into their community and gave us a great evening of conversation and later some Irish Trad music. Jackie and Desmond have a beautiful home in a serene setting and it is a delight that they are willing to open their home to strangers and make you feel at home. If you are anywhere in County Tipperary, make Nenagh your home base and make Bayly Farm your first choice of great accomodations.

My husband and I had unfortuantely only had one night stay at Bayly Farm, this was not enough. We were greeted by Des and Jackie and promptly shown to our room. This room was the most inviting and luxurious of our whole trip in Ireland. We had to stop ourselves from sitting down and instead decided to go for a walk as recommended by Jackie. When we came downstairs, Jackie had already produced wellington boots and gave us a map to walk around their most wonderful forest.
When we returned we relaxed and instantly fell alseep, the aroma of food woke us up and Des and Jackie invited us to eat with them. We thought this was amazing food but this nothing compared to the breakfast the next morning.
Des cooked the best breakfast and Jackie had baked fresh wheaten bread that morning served with homemade Bayly Farm jam.

This was the best stay and it really felt home from home, Des and Jackie where so inviting and welcoming. The rooms were perfect for our needs and we had one of the best nights sleep with proper fresh country air and comfortable surroundings.
Thank you Des and Jackie, we look forward to our next stay.

We booked a weekend at Bayly Farm to get away from London, it was the perfect escape! We were well looked after, beautiful old country house, with lovely grounds - great for a good afternoon walk, and relaxing by the log fire in the afternoon.
We had a room in the new part of the house and it was very comfortable, peaceful, spacious with its own bathroom.
Jacqui and Desmond were the perfect hosts, they gave us lots of advice on things to do in the area, went down to the yacht club and saw some of the stunning scenery on Loch Derg, not to mention the great local pubs.
Breakfast is a real treat, the homemade bread is truly delicious!

We stayed for three nights with our young grandson and were made to feel very welcome. Our stay was peaceful and relaxing in a house of character eg working shutters on the bedroom windows and a log fire in the drawing room later. Fesh fruit and good home cooking for breakfast (after a comfortable night's sleep) were
presented with genuine hospitality by Desmond and Jacqueline, our hosts. The secluded location was also very suitable for visiting Portumna Castle and Grounds (lovely walks), Birr Castle, Limerick and Adare Castles.

We spent our last night in Ireland at Bayly Farm and would highly recommend it. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, Jackie and Desmond are warm and gracious hosts, and their home is historic and lovely. Our only regret was leaving so soon.
