The hotel is in an attractive setting near Antequera. The walk into town would take an hour, along a beautiful country path. The hotel restoration is quite good and the spa functions well. The rooms were good. I didn't think the food was consistently good. We had one good evening meal and one very so-so meal. There was a wedding until past 3am the second night we were there, but in fact it wasn't too noisy. Staff were friendly. All in all, a bit of a surprise the hotel has five stars.
Finally, there is really no need for piped music, in and out of doors, in a hotel attempting to create a tranquil atmosphere!

Room tip: be careful about weddings if you book for a weekend

This is a lovely hotel in spectacular scenery on the outskirts of Antequera. It is a converted convent which retains some of its original features and is a pleasure to stay in. The bedrooms are comfortable and quiet and some have their own gardens! The restaurant is lovely and the food excellent. Breakfast was very good and the staff very pleasant and helpful.

Room tip: Ask for a garden bedroom

Very nice location . Big clean rooms with large bathroom .
Super good restaurant
Only staff at reception speaks English
Treatments in Spa are not at all professional . Spa is not to recommend
All day long the guest have to listen to the same sad funeral music , as well in the bar , restaurant , corridors .... We did not understand why they want to make the guest feel sad in such a nice place They should stop playing the same sad cd all day long .
No luggage service , no drinking water in rooms . No water boiler for tea or coffee

We visited this hotel for a special occasion. The Convecto is in a beautiful setting and an excellent building.Check in was very efficient.Room was lovely spotless clean.Air con was poor.Bar was understaffed, and when restaurant opened, they used staff from bar.Good menu but my potatoes were raw!!!When we explained to staff, she shrugged her shoulders and said "sorry" it was never mentioned again!! No compensation,or explanation from restaurant manager???If you do eat here, order your drinks in restaurant and take them through into bar, once you have finished your meal.Poor really for a hotel that claims to be 5*!!!We won't be back!!!

This hotel is nested on the hills just above the city of Antequera, in between el Torcal and the city itself. Its location allows a breath-taking view of the surrounding landscape in a quiet and isolated spot, almost magical al night. The hotel service was very efficient and its catering service was very good. We had booked a regular room, but when we arrived we were offered a suite for only 20€ more. The cost of the room included spa and breakfast. The suite was really nice, with a classical touch, coherent with the overall structure, that is an old convent. I enjoyed the stay very much, except for the spa. This clearly necessitated some maintenance work.
