Tom's flat fully lived up to all the positive reviews, with much thought given to everything you might need for a holiday (e.g. filter coffee machine and a juicer to name just two). When we arrived, the fridge was stocked with a range of useful provisions which were much appreciated. Tom gave a full explanation of everything we needed to know and kindly allowed us to leave our folding bikes in his garage. There would also have been a convenient parking space if we had come by car. The location is excellent, right next to the historic Alcazabar and within easy walking distance of the town centre, but is nevertheless very quiet. At the same time, there are also tracks and small roads leading out of town nearby. In early February, it was a little too cool to sit out on the terrace, but this would have been a great option at a slightly warmer time of year, with views of the nearby Alcazabar and the mountains. We shall have to return another time!
Primarily, Tom and Francis are the most amazingly kind people and made my stay extremely comfortable. The location was mind-blowing, the views inspiring and the whole sense of Antequera very warm, including the people. The appartment was perfect for my stay and very warm and straight forward. My only negative comment was, I had to leave and return to reality. There were times on this holiday that I wished time stood still. I loved this holiday so much (including Los Laurels) I have already booked for next year. Totally recommend it and thank you Tom.
This is a great spot to stay in Antequera as you are away from the busy town centre and it feels more like a village on the edge of town, even although it only takes about 20 minutes to walk there. I think Tom & Francis must have one of the best roof terraces in the Antequra area, it’s a great place to sit and relax with stunning views.
The apartment itself is small and compact and perfect for two people, but I have to say one of the best equipped I’ve been to! You don’t have to take your own coffee pot, baggage scales, shopping trolley bag, sun hat, flipflops etc… the list goes on. Tom even had milk and salad in the fridge and freshly ground coffee for when we arrived, which was excellent because we arrived on a Sunday afternoon and all the supermarkets were closed on a Sunday. Having a designated parking spot helps and takes the stress out of having to find a parking space on the narrow streets.
We love this area and the Spanish people we met were friendly and helpful. The chemist just a few doors down were great and helped us on a few occasions, we also got on the local bus a few times, a lot of sign language and our phrase book helped.
Ps. Tom is there if you need help with anything and will check on you occasionally and if you like a wee chat, he is willing to oblige.
Just a stone's throw from the Alcazaba this apartment is ideal for exploring Antequera's checkered history and almost equidistant from the cultural centres of Seville, Grenada and Cordoba. The landlord, Tom, is informative and helpful and the apartment is well stocked with a whole range of items including a cool box and ski-sticks for walking etc. The immediate locality is authentically Spanish and the balcony/veranda sports wonderful views and is ideal for eating outside. There are local shops and a spectacularly sited restaurant only five minutes away in the Plaza de Santa Maria. Excellent value all round.
Nicely located in an attractive historic and quiet part of Antequera, this rooftop apartment has great views of the castle, the surrounding hills and quaint streets. There are a few shops, bars and restaurants close by, and plenty more a longer walk away.
The apartment itself is comfortable, clean, well maintained and very well thought-out and equipped. Its star attraction for us was the large roof terrace from which to enjoy those views, and even that was well planned and equipped.
The apartment is above the owner's house but with its own private access. The owners are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, but respectful of privacy.
Antequera is an attractive and historic town with plenty of interesting sights, and is a perfect base for visiting Granada, Cordoba, Seville and other Andalusian locations.
We loved every minute of our stay and would recommend the place to anyone.
People with reduced mobility should take note that access is via three flights of stairs, and the surrounding streets are hilly.
