“BEATRIZ PALACE”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

I stayed here over St Patrick's wk. end 2012 on half board.I reguested a high floor and was allocated 4th. floor in Cacares Building.
The Cacares Building is carpeted and quiter as a result, but the doors to rooms slam shut and make a lot of noise through the night, no effort has been made to install door closing springs.I regard this as a huge problem.
I enjoyed my stay in this hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms face towards the sea, Cacares Buildind is good.

The hotel itself is like a Victorian town hall; big, unwelcoming and mausoleum like. Room was OK, not brilliant for a 4 star hotel though, but be careful the balcony door does not close behind you as there is no external handle to get back into the room. There was one available plug for the laptop which was too far from the desk to be of any use so ended up sitting on the edge of the bed to do some work. WiFi is not free which one might expect for a hotel of this type. Bathroom was functional but shower was a cheap, over the bath variety, and bath was of the small standard type and not one of any use for a long leisurely soak.

The main complaint however is in the misleading pricing. When I enquired about breakfast and dinner on checking in I was told dinner was €20 but was charged €32.29 on the bill. The buffet dinner was well cooked and good but it merely consisted of meat or fish and sauted potatoes for main course, no vegetables on offer. When I asked for coffee at the end of the meal I was told coffee was not served but I may be able to buy one in the bar! Overall the meal was very poor value for €32 and whoever has ever been in a restaurant that does not offer or serve coffee after a meal?

Spent 4 nights here with my daughter. Not many people staying; perhaps 25% of hotel. We really enjoyed it. The buffet was good but not sure how it would manage when busy. The staff were lovely and very ready to help. The spa pool was a good experience but at 12E a bit steep. The beds were a bit hard. The walk along the seafront to the town is easy and there is a good place for lunch along there:The Lemon!
Having read the reviews before we went the taxi fare of 45Euros from the airport didn't shock BUT do take the train from the airport to Fuengirola and taxi from there 4.50 for train and 10 for taxi! We went to Malaga for day by train: 45 mins excellent service.

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea. Ask for one where the balcony is more open. One of the 'blocks' face...

The hotel offers a spa service but it was overcrowded with guests, i suppose that the bookings were not done correctly by the spa staff member.
Also, the layout of the hotel is such that access between the rooms and the hotel’s facilities is mostly a tediously long hike.
There was a large training convention going on during our stay, which i think most guests like me did not felt comfortable with. It would have been better if the entire hotel had been reserved for the convention.

This hotel is in a quiet area and the walk to the town is easy, though its about 15 minutes away. The views are excellent and the hotel includes enough facilities to make it a good destination for a fortnight. The rooms are spacious and the buffet breakfast excellent but can be a bit of a bun fight during busy periods!

Room Tip: As its all sea facing all rooms get a view but some can be quite a walk away so if mobility is a pro...

We visited this hotel recently and was very impressed with the cleanliness. It seems a strange highlight but, compared to many places we've stayed, it was spotless.
All the rooms have a seaview and all are generously proportioned... and clean.
Only the promenade walkway separates the hotel from the beach.
But it a long way from the town and any restaurants or bars.
We stayed half-board and were disappointed with the quality and variety of dishes on offer at dinner.
We didn't feel that the hotel was interested in package holiday tourists, their more traditional attitude seems more aimed at the older independent traveller.
But, boy, was it clean. And no nasty drain or dustbin smells anywhere on the site.

Stayed here in December 2011 for pre Xmas visit and found it very hard to find any negatives at all!
All staff were excellent, the rooms were superb with superb views, the breakfasts excellent and all this for a bargain price from monarch holidays.
We have stayed in a couple of Fuengirola hotels but not as good as this.

I would suspect that in the summer it may be a different story as it is so large and would be a bit noisier with lots more people.

My only minor gripe is that the dividing walls seem to be very thin and any noises can be heard from next door.
