We were here the week of 22 October for five days. I read some of the reviews ahead of time and they were mixed.

The property is a bit dated or rustic with very basic amenities but it was still a great beach vacation. We were in a beach bungalow right in the beach. The sound of the waves was so relaxing. It was great to come right out to the sand. We were also pretty close to the restaurant as well. It was basic but generally the service was attentive.

The room was very comfortable and generally clean. It was just older than expected with limited bathroom amenities. Suggest you stop in town and get you own products.

The staff was helpful and not intrusive. The waves at the beach were intense with a super powerful undertoe. The proximity to Tarifa was perfect.

We would definitely go back know what we are getting into. It is relaxed and laid back. A perfect get away.

We stayed for five nights in a superior bungalow, which was right on the beach, and had a lovely time at Hotel Dos Mares. The view of the waves, beach and kite surfers was incredible. It is windy on the Costa de la Luz. Breakfast was a really well laid out buffet affair that really set you up for the day, with a large choice of fruit, continental plus hot sausage, bacon and fried eggs. The only slight problem was the fact that the beach bar didnt serve food after about 6.30pm, and the restaurant didnt open until 8. We therefore went into Tarifa every evening, where there is a choice of restaurants, and didnt eat at the hotel, which is a shame. Interesting trips out to Gibraltar, Zahara de los Atunes and Medina Sedonia as well as Tarifa (would have been Tangiers as well, but the weather intervened.

Thank you!

Paid €300 for a "Bungalow" so arrived with much anticipation of a luxury beach front hotel. How wrong we were.
Arrived at 1230pm and were advised check in was at 2pm. Bearing in mind we have a baby, there was no flexibility. 1355pm we go to reception. Sorry you must wait for 2pm , rude rude rude receptionist and zero customer service.
Arrive the Bungalow - on the road in the car park - floors still wet from the cleaning. The room has one bedroom, a bathroom that you have to pass to get to, and a tiny room converted for our son. LIke a room from 1975, dated, TV the size of a postage stamp-

Never experienced such awful food as at this restaurant, and ridiculously overpriced. A "poniente salad" described as being a mix of fruits on a bed on salad leaves cost over 10€ and had only tinned pineapple, frozen berries and vile pieces of lettuce. The nachos starter at 8€ was just a plate of crisps covered in cheese, no salsa, no effort. Horrendous and vile can't advise enough against this place

Lovely hotel, situated right on the beach and the the rooms are at street level. Had their largest room which was comfortable for a couple but not ideal for two individual as there is no divider between the bedroom and the living room. Can use a lift in room upgrades, but pretty comfortable.

We booked this hotels restaurant whilst visiting Tarifa and Dos Mares food was incredible. Our group consisted of different Europeans who all live in Spain and are used to it´s cuisine. Our shared starter of Manchego Cheese and Jamon Iberico was the best we had all ever eaten in Spain.

Our mains continued in quality and this combined with professional service and the pleasant location of the restaurant really made it a night to remember.

Highly recommended restaurant.

Hotel Dos Mares is something of an institution in Tarifa and justifiably so. The rooms are basic but comfortable, the public spaces welcoming, the restaurant good with local produce being used, the pool area is nice and the wind and kite surf facilities good too; but my favourite is the friendly staff on reception and around the hotel and access to the wonderful beach and bracing crystal clear sea with views across to Africa. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back soon!

Room Tip: Beach bungalows are best
