Description: The Dog and Badger reopened in July 2015 as a free house after an extensive refurbishment over 18 months. The original building has been restored to retain its charm and a new Oak framed space has been added to house the main bar and the new state-of-the art open kitchen with its wood-fired oven and charcoal grill. The 60 seat restaurant serves seasonal contemporary dishes all prepared with locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. The kitchen has its own large vegetable and herb garden at the back of Gillman's Cottage. Breakfast is served from 8am to midday with bar snacks and meals including many pub favourites available in the bar and snug areas from 11am through until 10pm. A beautiful terrace has been added for alfresco drinking and dining. The private dining suite accommodates up to 14 for business meetings or a private lunch or dinner and 30 for a less formal occasion. The adjacent Gillman's Cottage has 6 luxury bedrooms all with private bathrooms and air conditioning. We very much look forward to welcoming you to The Dog and Badger!

Popped in for a lunchtime bite with my brother.
Good service and tasty food and reasonably priced.
Interesting decor since recent refurbishment, but very welcoming and comfortable

Seemed to be a relatively limited menu for our tastes. The food was OK but still have to say it was nothing better than average. Service pretty good though.

My husband and I stayed here for one night while in transit with our horse box! We had our two dogs and finding nice luxury places that take dogs can be a challenge. I have to say we welcomed from the beginning. The room was really very pleasant and well thought out. I travel a lot and one of my biggest frustrations is rubbish hairdryers, not so here, the hairdryer was luxury as well!

We ate in the restaurant which did not get off to a great start as it was Saturday night we were basically put in the corridor. We did not take too kindly to this as we were staying in the hotel too so its not like it was last minute! 10/10 to them they did move us without any fuss and an apology so I really can't fault that.

Food was pretty good for what you are paying we had a very enjoyable meal and then crashed out for a great nights sleep. Management were excellent about the horse box and we would certainly stay there again.

Impressive entrance and interior...much improved since last visit. Good selection on the menu and not too expensive.....beef salad excellent as were chips when they arrived; leek and potato soup lacked any taste.....needed salt badly and 1/2 BLT....latter very tasty. Not charged for chips as forgotten. Friendly service and loved the pictures. We will return to sample dinner one evening. Great parking

Exactly what you don't want from a country pub. Piped music playing too loudly, hotchpotch of decor, poor service. We waited for almost 45 minutes for our starters, which were at best, average. Then another30 minutes for our mains. Two portions of tasteless cod, which was meant to have been grilled, but was not, in a bland soup of a white sauce. The salmon was served on a mush of over cooked vegetables with what looked like a tin of tomato sauce thrown over the top. The fourth portion was best and comprised two small sausages a large spoonful of mashed potatoes and some gravy sitting in a large, previously frozen Yorkshire pudding. No vegetables. We went elsewhere for desserts and coffee as we were too disappointed to stay for anything else.

It was not a good experience and we will never return.
