Enjoyable Stay (with some issues)

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 weeks ago
Just returned from a long weekend at the Blakeney Hotel. Enjoyed our stay and in terms of location could not be better. We did pay extra for an estuary view and was lovely but can be noisy in the morning - cars, birds, etc so bear that in mind if you like piece and quite.
The room was of a good size but we did find the bed very hard and the next morning spoke to a manager and the issue was sorted.
As others have mentioned the hotel is old and we did find the room had no where to plug in a phone etc near to the bed. Bathroom was adequate and we had no issues with hot water. Shower pressure was ok.
Wi-Fi worked well and housekeeping was very good.
All staff we spoke to were helpful and friendly.
We did not eat in the hotel as we like to go out and explore local options. If you like fish the excellent "The Moorings" a short walk from the hotel was great.
Breakfast offers both a small buffet as well a food cooked to order. All very nice.
To summarize we enjoyed out stay but the hotel is I would say old fashioned and certainly parts are in need some TLC. If you want and expect modern with all mod cons the Blakeney Hotel may not fit the bill.

The hotel looked beautiful online and had a lovely new year’s package. On the homepage they have a whole section about being “family friendly” and boast on how they accommodate children. However when I called to book for my family I was told children aren’t welcome at new year.

If you don’t accept children all year round you cannot claim to be family friendly.

The hotel is serine. The roo.s beautifully furnished. We stayed in room 47, overlooking quey and tributary.

Bed was soft but very comfortable.

The residents lounge on first floor gives a nice view of area.

The restaurant is a must. My partner is vegan so always a challenge but the meal was amazing. Should have a Michelin star!

The Blakeney hotel is just a wonderful place. The rooms are lovely, comfortable beds, very clean. I stayed with my mum who had a lovely accessible room with a wet room. The food is amazing- we had 3 courses each night we were there and I literally could have chosen anything from the menu, and it was difficult making a decision about what to have. The breakfast is also delicious, lots of choice and cooked beautifully. The staff are amazing, always helpful and plenty of them. The area is beautiful, lots of little shops in Blakeney and places to walk from the hotel. Boat trips are also available to see the seals.
There is a small gym and a nice swimming pool. The hotel gardens are lovely - there are loungers in the main garden and lots of seating in the many tiny courtyard gardens around the hotel. Beautifully done, we will return!

Always try to stay in room 43, but this time very disappointed. This room really is need need of refurbishing, the bathroom in particular. The rest of the hotel is looking tied and for the money £1200 for two nights very expensive. The pool area needs some attention. Food was up to their normal good standard. I did fill in the suggestion form and also spoke to reception, but didn't really feel that they were very concerned.

Room tip: Be prepared to be disappointed with the room.

We visited the restaurant for lunch today, there was an excellent choice on the menu, I chose fresh fish it was deliciously cooked without meanless frills. The staff are friendly and efficient. This hotel is outstanding in many ways with a wonderful view across the marshes.

Room tip: Just go there.
