This is a very pretty hotel in a lovely position but we did have quite a lot of problems. The first night in the restaurant my husband's starter was forgotten and eventually the starter was served, but when the main courses arrived they were overcooked as they had obviously been waiting around.
One day we had to complain that the bathroom had not been cleaned and another day when we arrived back at 3.30 pm the room had not been cleaned.
The worst thing was that on 2 days there was not enough hot water and my husband had to have a cold shower. The radiator in the room did not work and we were loaned a portable radiator by the management,
This was all a great pity as the staff were very nice and the hotel is very stylishly decorated and would be very comfortable without all the niggles. The staff did try to compensate us for all the discomfort for which we are grateful.

We stayed in room 607 for three nights bed and breakfast. We stayed with our dog. Our room was in an annex in the car park and we were disturbed by this and the road noise from the other side of our room. If we went again we’d ask for a room elsewhere in the hotel.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, good local knowledge about dog walks. Everyone we interacted with was a credit to the hotel. The hotel is very dog friendly, our dog had a little welcome pack and was welcome to join us to eat in the bar, they brought him a sausage at breakfast.
The only other niggle is the limited vegetarian options on the evening menu, a cauliflower salad or a burger. We stayed 3 nights so decided to eat elsewhere one night, not feeling that a burger is a treat when we eat out. We were lucky that one of our 3 nights was a Sunday so we could have Sunday lunch of nut roast that evening. The food we did have we enjoyed, would like another vegetarian main option.
We had a lovely relaxing break and would happily recommend this hotel.

service ..very good. Menu selection generally very good .but my special was both expensive & not very good.The fish & chips were excellent
