From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. Stayed in a cosy room that was lovely. Very comfy bed, bathroom stunning and on a day when the Temperature was 30 degrees the air con was very welcome. Breakfast was great. Loved every minute and will go back.

I just don't get why The Seafood Restaurant Accommodation is rated so high.
We arrived early and were told they would make the room a priority. Checked back twice and the room still wasn't ready until 2pm which is the normal check in time. I know we were early and just hoped to get an early check in - but then its very poor service to suggest you will prioritize and then you don't!
The carpet in the room had not been vacuumed properly, there was pebbles in one section of the room. They blended with the carpet so could not be seen but when take off shoes it is quite disturbing and the cleanliness is in question.
The carpet was badly stained both in the room and in the hallway.
There was something on the bathroom counter which to us looked possibly like a raisin. We did not touch it to try to determine what it really was. It was cleaned the second day.
The shower was quite moldy.
The shower had one soap tray/bowl (it just collected water). Shampoo, conditioner, and body gel are provided in lovely large bottle dispensers. But the shower tray/bowl only holds one bottle and no place for the other bottles.
The skinniest towel warmer you ever saw is hiding behind hooks where robes are hung which makes this very inefficient.
The room was very oddly laid out. The desk faced the TV, the sofa faced the closet, nothing looked out the window, the bed was way too far from the TV to see it. I would have rearranged but doubt it was vacuumed under the furniture so refrained.
The "do not disturb" sign is nicely creatively made out of slate. However, the door handle on the door is too close to the door frame so it's impossible to hang the thick sign and then close the door. I checked many of the other doors and they are all beat up from people trying to close the door so this is a common issue.
This may be just something that bothers me, not sure if it is designed this way, but every single piece of art is hung randomly. Not a single one in the lobby, hallways, rooms, or restaurant is hung centered on the wall. Its like no one cares.
Breakfast was nice but slow service. Took forever to get coffee. Contrary to at dinner when barely time to finish chewing starter before the main arrives.
I think hotel designers and owners should be forced to sleep in their hotels so that they can see how poorly designed they are.
I can see that an effort has been made. But serious flaws with some design. And the housekeeping issues prohibit me from rating this any higher.

A fabulous few days away in Padstow. The team at Rick Steins are amazing from start to finish. Nothing is too much trouble to anyone. We stayed in the Master Room with our own Terrace and great views. Having stayed in various places in Padstow this was far the best!!

Well done Rick and all the team.

Chris from Cheshire.

We stayed for 2 nights in an Estuary view room. The view was mainly of the road and car park with the water beyond. There are building works nearby that started early, plus the noise of the traffic kept us awake. We should have known when ear plugs are provided!! The room is quite a good size and the bathroom has plenty of shelving. Expensive for what you get. Be aware that the parking garage is small and very tight too get into and out of. The breakfasts however are AMAZING

We stayed with our two dogs in the Daymer room which has a large balcony with views over Padstow Harbour. The room is a good size and the balcony is a great place for relaxing. We have stayed in other dog friendly hotels but here they do welcome them and provide dog blankets and treats. At breakfast, which is really good with a great range of fish and traditional/continental options, we were able to sit in the conservatory with our dogs who were even bought bacon for their breakfast.
We have also looked at high quality self catering but staying at the seafood restaurant worked out really good value for a room with brilliant views, based in Padstow and excellent breakfast. We did eat in the seafood restaurant which is good but didn't impress us as much as our first visit a couple of years ago.
