Late Feb, Our wedding anniversary?...Where to go at short notice?...Always liked Padstow, so on a whim, off we went. Asked at the Customs House for a recommendation, "right behind us" they said, and there was 4, Riverside, right opposite the car park. The hosts had their top room free that evening, so once we had viewed it , we were hooked. Imagine a river estuary, with sand banks, a small harbour, fishing boats, and delight of delight, the dawn sun to wake us up. Fantastic. Mine hosts, Jane and Peter, suggested we left the curtains open, and prepare to be amazed. They weren't wrong. What a treat. From the small balcony, to the left, the harbour, boats bobbing in the gentle dawn breeze, and immediately opposite, in the wonderful dawn light,a view right across to Rock. Stunning!. Breakfast was a veritable feast, we couldn't have asked for more. My wife had a continental, I , of course , had this immense full English. Turns out Jane was Cordon Bleu trained, and after taking their advice over breakfast, we were soon walking it all off on a leisurely walk with their dog, Fitzi, up over the cliff path, and down to St Georges Well. More pictures, right out to sea. Jane and Peter were very knowledgeable about Padstow, its traditions and history, and gave us sound advice on the great places to visit around and about. We decided to stay an extra night, and were invited into their lounge for a tipple. It was so nice to share their home, and to be made to feel so welcome. We were very sad to leave, and will definately return again, perhaps next year. .....It was only when we returned home that we saw on this web site some pretty nasty remarks about No 4 Riverside. I think some people really should take a good look around themselves....are they blind? Its a guest house for god's sake not 5 star accomodation, you were in the wrong place for that, but that view from the bedroom, the breakfast, the company,... we couldn't fault it, any of it.

Room Tip: Ask for the top room, bathroom is separate, but only for your use, good shower. Leave your curtains open!

I am writing this from the b and b, enjoying the last of the harbour view before we have to leave. Such a charming stay, house is cosy and tasteful and extremely well equipped. We stay at alot of b and bs and one can be extremely unlucky either with the bed, the view, no hairdryer, the walk to the nearest pub, etc but it was obvious that the owners had gone to a great deal of trouble to make sure that everything was provided for the traveler on the go. Have recommended it to others already. Is the sort of place you want to share and recommend. Definitely snag the top room with the balcony if you can. Thanks for a terrific little stay.

Comfy, homely place in a prime location - and with top breakfasts and possibly the cutest dog in Cornwall to boot... Cheers, Linda. Nick & Abby.

We hadn't booked this room in advance, and didn't know anything about the place when we arrived Padstow. The host gave us necessary information about the room, and also told us that we would be well taken care of. And so we were! There wasn't any parkingplace in connection to the establishment, but we used the public parking area. The room was small and had a shower in the corner. We shared the toilet with the hosts, but we didn't mind at all! At the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. The hosts personal way and their humor really hit us, and made us feel at home. We had a lovely breakfast, and the hosts gave us helpful information about walkingroutes in the area, nice restaurants to visit and offered to lend us what we needed. We even got transported to the startpoint og our walk in their jeep. We stayed for two days, and this accomodation was the highlight of our 12 days stay in the West Country. Thank you very much Jane and David for staying in your house. We loved it! Hope to see you again.

Welcomed by friendly hosts, Peter and Jane create a unique warm welcoming atmosphere and who are more than helpful in everyway. Guests are served with a hearty breakfast and I can recommend the full English fried breakfast to start your day.
From room one guests are treated with stunning views across the harbour, where small fishing boats can be seen coming in and out of the port.
Padstow boasts several pubs and restaurants that are of a very high standard, including a wealth of small shops selling local arts and crafts etc.
Riverside b&b pride themselves with rooms that are immaculate and very clean, with a king-size bed in room one. Excellent value for money and will certainly will use the facility again in the future.
