St. Peter and St. Paul's Church
Reviewed October 13, 2016

An 18th Century architectural gem, with beautifully restored Cupola and wonderful apse ceiling.

Quiet and contemplative atmosphere.

Tea and scrumptious cakes served by very helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant volunteers.

I went on a tower tour in Heritage week. Firstly, the church interior is stunning! The detailed plasterwork ceilings and intricate coloured ceiling above alter, drew the eye instantly. The guide has a wealth of knowledge and, understandably, a passion for the building which makes the tour very interesting. This tour brings history into the now - I loved it! Thank you.

For a long time the outside has been looking for a make over and its Georgian exterior became eroded and sorry for itself. Soon it will dominate the Market place. That area is not unlike Devises and Sir John Betjamin rated it very highly

Visited during the Dorset Architectural Heritage Week and took part in a very interesting tour covering the church's history following the fire in Blandford of 1731. The building is currently about to undergo some overdue restoration work and it is a fascinating place. Church volunteers are welcoming and enthusiastic about the church's history and it's future. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

What pleasure to get into your magnificent church today. I have often walked round the outside, in the hope of finding it open, but never an open door or information as to when I might be able to enter. I wish you all good fortune in the restoration program. For me as a non-Christian, the fabric of churches is so much a part of our history. I hope they can be part of our future.
