A stunning site, the House, Gardens and Grounds are well maintained and managed by English Heritage. The House is not always open, so check timings before travel. Perhaps unlike many National Trust properties, the House has a number of unfurnished rooms so it may be best to get a guide book to fully appreciate their original function. There was no guided tour available at the time of our visit, so you could just look around the rooms at your own pace and leisure. Staff were located throughout to answer any questions. The gardens and grounds are extensive and as it was during school holidays, special interests were provided for children. The stable block is still in use and you can visit the horses. There is also a children's play area nearby. This is a good day out, weather dependant for optimum enjoyment.

On a sunny day, take a picnic, and if you are lucky enough to be premier customers of Barclays Bank, as this is an English Heritage property, entry is free with their rewards system, so you can save 35 pounds per couple. Endless lovely lawns with mature trees for shade and in the summer months there is often some entertainment like jazz in the gardens, as today, with cocktails, ice cream and the usual tea and refreshments indoors too. Very popular, plenty of parking, wonderful gardens by capability Brown, the house and it's history another bonus.a jewel.

Had a lovely visit to Audley End House. I found the house interesting (and not too huge); especially liked the upper floors with the Coal Room (with actor in period dress to tell you about the room) and the Nursery in which you allowed to play, dress up and sit on the furniture.

During our visit there was a parade of horses and carriages (on the cricket pitch next to the lake) – this was very interesting and picturesque.

The kitchen gardens are superb and the grounds lovely to wander around (although we did not have enough time to visit the formal gardens on this visit).

Catering / refreshments could be improved, but not sure how this could be done within the constraints of the infrastructure that English Heritage are trying to preserve.

Absolutely fantastic. As an English Heritage member we get free entry. So saved £28 on an adult and child ticket. Gardens and house is beautiful. Currently there's also a Fairy and Elf Festival on for younger children until 3rd September

Beautiful house which is well kept. Slightly expensive entrance fee.
Excellent garden one hour tour by Pat. We were the only ones attending so it was so personal. Her knowledge was amazing and this really made our visit so much more interesting.
House guides are informative when prompted for details. Limited guides to read and find out more information.
Would have liked a map of the grounds so we could have gone for a walk in the 100 acres of parkland.
