This is a review from our two-week driving tour through the Northern Scottish Highlands, where we stayed at mostly Bed and Breakfasts and Guest Houses. We are experienced travelers and try to provide an objective review of our guest experience.

1. Welcome and Hosts
We arrived and the hosts were not home (but left a note on the door) which allowed us to take a nice walk to the beach, which is only minutes away. The home if very bright and although a modular home, very well appointed. Isabell and Graeme were very nice and spent some time chatting (and listening) to us. Best to stay away from any discussions about politics : )

2. Room and Facilities
We had a spacious bedroom with en suite and a nice window with a view. There was nothing lacking. There is not a general living room area that one can sit in, but we were too tired after dinner. The dinner recommendation in Big Sand was a good one.

3. Breakfasts
The breakfast was cooked to order and I enjoyed the full Scottish breakfast, which I could on finish.

4. Summary and Recommendation
Big Sand is delightful, much better than being in Gairloch and so peaceful and tranquil. I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in this part of the Highlands. Make sure you have enough cash as they do not accept credit cards. This was not stated in our reservation, but was not a problem as we had just enough left over. There is a bank in town with a ATM if needed.

Room Tip: be prepared to pay in cash.

We had an excellent stay here. The folks were friendly and helpful. The house was amazing and the views stunning. The breakfast was really nice. Wifi was fast, the shower was great! I would definitely recommend staying here.

I enjoyed a blissful experience here at the last stop on my NC500 trip before heading homeward. The location is very peaceful with the natural beauty of the sands, sea and fields. The name of the b&b was very truthful! The beach is a short walk across a couple of fields which take you through the local campsite. There is also a restaurant/cafe there for you to eat at so you don't even need to venture far for an evening meal. As for locality to Gairloch it is a short 5 min drive away. I would recommend heading to the end of the road to see the views and the cliffs.

The room was comfortable and warm with plenty of facilities. An outstanding view out to the loch/sea. Sky tv. Wifi, the works (if you decide to stay in). The owners were welcoming and able to give local information as well as a friendly chat. I really enjoyed staying here and really felt welcome. Thank you. And I will be back here hopefully in the not too distant future!

The location is wonderful. We arrived after dark and were delighted when we pulled back the curtains in the morning to see the glorious view south to the mountains of Torridon, over the sea to Skye, and across to the Isle of Longa.
Our bedroom and en suite shower room were attractive, modern, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. The cooked breakfast was very well prepared and presented using good quality ingredients. The toast was made with high quality bread (not cheap, sliced mass-produced bread) and there was ample tea and cafetiere coffee.
Isabell and Graham were relaxed, friendlly and welcoming hosts. It was a delight to stay with them for three nights, and we hope to return.

Room Tip: One of the double rooms has a bed with a board at the bottom. If (like me) you're well over 6 feet (1.83m) then ask for the other room.
