We stayed for 3 nights in early September and were very disappointed in the hotel. We had 2 small dogs with us so our bedroom was in an annex at the back of the hotel, and it was a very depressing space that we didn’t want to spend any time in. The main part of the hotel was very tired. We didn’t see the main bedrooms, but the lounge was reminiscent of a youth hostel, crammed with furniture and very dark. We had to walk through what was the dining room, now acting as a storage room for tables, chairs, crockery etc, to get to where breakfast was served.
On a plus note, breakfast was very nice and the staff were very helpful. Dinner was served in a sister hotel 5 mins walk down the road in The Old Inn, and that was good.
Sadly we couldn’t recommend and we won’t be returning.

Part of our Nc500 trip. Prebooked room without viewing.
On arrival met by owner. I cannot say greeted, he launched into a rant insisting we download a track and trace qcode reader. Everywhere else has been happy to record our details, not this guy. He finally thrust a pad and pencil at me and said he wouldn't be keeping the details.
Then gave us a breakfast menu and even though it said on the top to complete and leave later, he insisted on us completing it in front of him.
Went to the room... Lovely view overlooking the harbour. 4poster bed. All sounds attractive, except for fact the drapes were torn and frayed. Curtains didn't fit the windows, very tired and dreary decorations. Bathroom OK large shower and plenty hot water, but small bath towels. The whole place needs an overhaul.
Shown to our breakfast table, preset with our order but no milk for cereals and no spoons for yoghurt. Tea and coffee served from pump flasks, so everyone touching these as well as milk jug. So despite manager thinking he is Covid clever, he is opening the doors to cross contamination with the drink flasks.
£122 for B&B. Worth about £50

Checking in was not the warmest experience we have ever had, we had a breakfast menu shoved under our noses with instructions to order then and there for breakfast tomorrow. We had just travelled 150 miles and could have done this in our room to bring it down that evening.
As it was the breakfast was luke warm at best and the waitress surly. Not necessary at all. I know we are all stressed in these times but that's not my fault. The bedroom was an adequate size but the bathroom had a great hot shower so pro's and cons.

We spent one night here during our trip round Scotland. We arrived before check in time, not expecting to be given our room but to check we had successfully precooked dinner as there had been some difficulty with our Wi-fi. We were told in no uncertain terms we were far too early and not to come back for at least two hours. We couldn’t help but compare this ‘welcome’ with how we had been greeted in New Zealand when arriving early. Why not invite us to wait in the guest lounge and help ourselves to a drink from the trust bar especially since the weather was horrendous.
The room we were allocated had a couple of picture windows, one with a distant view over the harbour. We had a large four poster bed (2 singles pushed together) but with a very thin duvet which barely covered it. The bathroom was very small with nowhere to put our wash bags. The whole place was just generally tired and old fashioned. It lies in an beautiful situation and could be a so much more attractive place to stay.
Breakfast had to be pre-ordered and was very regimented and delivered in a not particularly friendly manner. I cannot recommend the porridge.
Dinner the night before was taken at the Old Inn, again pre-ordered and again very regimented. The whole enjoyment of choosing and sharing of a meal has been taken away by Covid.
Both establishments were very conscious of and strict on Covid sanitising and distancing measures.
