There were some nice touches to our stay. As it was our anniversary, we were given bubbles on arrival and a special desert. The restaurant staff were lovely and the spa was nice and relaxing.

Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. We booked a ‘cosy’ room which in the pictures looked lovely. The room’s descriptions had ‘en-suite and thoroughly modern bathrooms’ (see attached. They’ve since changed this description). The bathroom we were given however was dreadful (images attached). It didn’t even have a shower to stand under or a bracket.

When we complained, the lady at reception was patronising and extremely unhelpful and nothing was done to address the issue. We were told the manager had gone home and that was that.

It’s such a shame given to have this service given the cost of the rooms and I would recommend everyone avoid ‘Thomas’ room like the plague.

This is a beautiful hotel and spa to visit for a special treat. The grounds, gardens and the house itself are beautiful. The view from our room was lovely and the restaurant, with glass doors to the garden, was a gorgeous setting to eat.

Pros: Staff were very friendly and attentive, stunning surroundings, comfy beds, large bathroom, and the spa was immaculately clean, quiet, and a gorgeous setting to relax in. We were brought a glass of bubbly on arrival and send a little extra dessert as we were celebrating a birthday. Lovely little touches - can't fault the customer service.

Cons: The food was rather average, I expected it to have the wow-factor so was a bit disappointed. Dinner was rather bland, sweetcorn appeared to be tinned. Breakfast bacon was so tough you couldn't get a fork into it. My eggs and beans were cold (the sausage was hot, though!).

Would definitely visit to spend a day at the spa again, but probably not stay overnight, as the food was a bit of a let down.

We stayed here for our 2nd wedding anniversary and was blown away ! What a little gem ! This beautiful building was tucked away with plenty of parking and from arrival to leaving if was a faultless stay, the receptionist was friendly and welcoming we had a stunning room overlooking the beautiful grounds and they brought us a complimentary glass of fizz for our anniversary. The bed was huge and very comfy and room was super clean. We spent the afternoon in the spa which was amazing and enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pool and jacuzzi’s, the treatments were some of the very best we have had and changing facilities are superb.
We had three course dinner and can honestly say both me and my wife ate every single bite of all three course it’s was that good. Service was impeccable, lovely wine and again going the extra mile by bringing out a chocolate plate with happy anniversary written on.
Had a great nights sleep and breakfast was also great and we loved the traditional tea set.
We are itching to come back and I’m sure it won’t be long til we do !
