The first thing was that having not been here for a long time,we were remembered and recognised. The food and the presentation were quite superb in such beautiful surroundings-so good we chose it for our golden wedding anniversary-good coice!

First of all the young girls that severed us were warm and friendly , served us in a relaxed
efficient manner.

The decor in the dinning room was a little shabby, chipped wooden salt and pepper pots, the menus were well thumbed and a little grubby, and the table lay up very basic.

I ordered roast beef and Yorkshire pud, the meat was tough and inedible, the roast potatoes were not crisp. My wife had the belly pork which was ok but a small portion.

I complained but there was no service recovery.

Just goes to show, rosettes or no rosettes, does not mean you can guarantee a good meal. Shame its such a lovely location.

This was our second visit to this little gem of an hotel - we use it as a break in our journey down to Cornwall. The building is so quirky as it is so old - the room was super and the dinner and breakfast spot on..

Our tour guide suggested a few places to eat for our lunch stop and we decided to go to the Sign of the Angel. At first glance we were thinking we'd be in a place serving pub food. It was a late lunch for us, and so we arrived just a bit before they close for their afternoon break (2pm). But we were greeted cheerfully and seated outside in their wonder back area with no hesitation. While we did order fish and chips, it was really well presented and a perfect size for lunch. We also had an vegetarian tart and risotto in our group. All were excellent; well prepared, presented, and quite tasty! It was a lunch one would expect in a top city restaurant...what a find here in Lacock! Truly angelic meal! Sorry, had to say that, it was really good!
