Description: Roaring log fires, peaceful surroundings, a cosy atmosphere and over one hundred years of traditional hospitality make the Ballachulish Hotel a real highland gem. Our staircase is creaky, some floors a little on the slope, but our welcome is warm our food is good. Come on in… Serving food all day, but most people talk about our Scottish Afternoon Tea, served in the drawing room or our locally sourced produce - cooked simply, letting the flavours shine.

The manager on duty was incredibly helpful and organized the chef to make me a smaller meal not on the menu - which was delicious! Excellent service and overall a great lunch which was very much needed.

Delicious food at breakfast and dinner. The dining room faces the Loch. I had Grampian Chicken Breast for dinner with Highland Mess for dessert.

We were passing on the main highway, on an early afternoon on a weekday. To find this place, exit from the A road, at the roundabout on the south side of the big steel-truss bridge, taking the exit towards Oban. Drive underneath the bridge; not far away is the hotel, which contains the restaurant. There is plenty of paved parking alongside the hotel.

You’re deep in a valley here. The dining room offers a nice view of the surrounding mountains. We tried the house fish, the battered pollock; it was very mild. The accompanying chips were the freshest we’ve had in Scotland. On the cheddar-and-tomato sandwich, made with thick-cut fresh wholemeal bread, the chutney was particularly tasty.

The food we saw being served to other tables looked likewise tasty. We will return here for lunch if we’re in this area again.

This hotel was only a 3 minute walk from the Riverbed pods where we were staying, very busy hotel, so it is advisable to book at night for meals. Although a little pricey, food was excellent and served to you by lovely staff, would recommended it.

We had a delicious dinner here while staying at the hotel. Far better than the usual fare in Scotland. A proper chef and a delicious food. Try the lamb dump. Dont worry about tired decor. Eat there anyway.
