“Lovely stay”
Reviewed March 14, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

At short notice we were looking for a short break, comfortable surroundings and easy access to areas to walk our dog. The Hawthorn fitted the bill perfectly in all aspects, thank you for a very enjoyable stay, we hope to return.

“Brilliant short break”
Reviewed February 18, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

We stayed at 1 The Hawthorns for a short break with two adults and two young children. The immaculate and well kitted out apartment had everything we needed, it's well located for both the town centre (which has some excellent restaurants and a top notch German baker) and the lovely local beach and Adria was a great host. We would definitely come back and recommend 1 The Hawthorns to anyone else looking to visit Gullane / East Lothian.

“Beautiful home from home”

Adria was kind enough to let us exceed the maximum of 4 guests by adding our 2 year old and most of his toys to the house, which allowed us our first ever break away with all the kids. My Husband and I hope to make Gullane our regular holiday as Daniel grows up. There is plenty to do for kids of all ages within easy reach of the hawthorns. We stayed when the weather was not being very kind, yet still managed to keep everyone happy and we all had great fun. Particularly nice to see the beach used so well by so many groups in November - we even saw one hardy local lady going for her daily dip! The quiet residential road was perfect for nipping out to have a quick splash in some puddles to keep the wee one happy while we made full use of the cosy living space and excellent coffee machine...now on the Christmas list. As four grown adults and one child Adria did phone in advance to let us know that others had remarked it was cosy for four however the layout of the space makes it easy to use and we didn't have any problems with space. The furnishings are perfect for a relaxing stay and very thoughtfully equipped. The owners have put a lot of thought and effort into the local information folder and this was greatly appreciated. We do hope to get back in the not too distant future!

“Great property and Location”
Reviewed November 7, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

A top quality 4 night break , the property has everything you could need, is very comfortable and has some of the best dog walking country we have seen in twelve years of taking holidays in Scotland.

The owners are just as you would like, available if you need them but not in your face the remainder of the time. A lot of thought has gone into the presentation of the property and the appliances are very good quality which in our experience is unusual.

This is a great area of Scotland and if you are looking for a stress free experience this is the property for you.

“An excellent place to stay, clean modern accomodation with walks to the beach easy from the property.”
Reviewed November 1, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Stayed here for a long weekend with our Labrador. The accomodation was clean, modern with all facilities you would expect of a rental property. The proximity of a wonderful beach and longer walks in the area made this a wonderful place to stay for walkers and their 4 legged friends. The weather was brilliant for our stay so the books and games in the property were not required.
The only downside was our£100 deposit does not get returned until 10 days after the stay which I personally think is too long. Why so long?

Hi Pat, thanks so much for your positive review and we're glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed about the length of time it took to return your damage deposit. If I could do anything about this I would but it's something that's handled by Holiday Lettings and I'm afraid I'm unable to change the way they do it. Hope to see you again. Very best. Adria

“One not to be missed!”
Reviewed October 13, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

A perfect little bolthole. Small, although doesn't feel small, light and bright, and extremely well equipped. Perfectly functional. Geoff & Adria are the perfect hosts and eagre to please. The little garden at the back is a great wee suntrap in which to enjoy breakfast or a spot of lunch. Loved the log burner, very cosy. Lovely walk 5 mins to the beautiful Gullane beach. Villagers very friendly, went to the yearly apple festival where the villagers bring the apples from their trees and using the apple press they have purchased, turn this into apple juice which for a donation can be enjoyed along with lovely apple home baking, mmm. Falko Konditormeister not to be missed for freshly baked German bread and cakes. On the whole we and my 14 year old son plus yorkie had a lovely few days there. Thanks Adria you made us feel most welcome.

“small but perfectly formed”
Reviewed October 4, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Just back from a wonderful few days in East Lothian which was made extra special by the very comfortable and spotless 1 the Hawthorns. Adria and Geoff made us and our boxer dog very welcome. The flat is small but the bedrooms and bath room are not cramped and the flat is well equipped with breakfast on the patio a pleasure. Walks to the beach provided good exercise depending on path chosen! All was,of course, helped by the fabulous Indian summer.
