“What a ripoff”
Reviewed 27 October 2011

My wife booked this a few weeks ago. When she called, she was told the only room left was the 4 poster bed room but she would be given it for £115. When we got there, the 3 cars in the car park suggested the 63 rooms were not all full and we had been conned into taking an expensive room.

The hotel itself looks very tried as did the room. Very cold in the room. We had a big window overlooking the water but the pastic coating made the view fuzzy.

The bathroom was also cold but it did have a nice new shower.

Overall, it wasn't a terrible stay but at £115, it was way too expensive.

I arrived at the Royal Hotel after sailing from Stornoway, I was greeted with a dour wee face who gave me my room key. The room was really small and basic, but I did ask for a single room so serves me right. The breakfast in the morning was ample help yourself buffet style. Verdict, good value for the money spent .

On arrival a lovley freindly greeting, I stayed in a twin room which was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The bed was comfy, and the room well heated. Nice bathroom, well shower room unfortunately no bath just a shower but still very nice. i woudl happily stay there again and recommend for others.

We stayed in this hotel in October, not an especially cold time of the year, but we quickly came to call the hotel the Ice Palace. We were in corner rooms with a heater that had to be reset every 3 hours. I slept with my clothes on and put two duvets on the bed. My father ran the shower in his room on hot to get some warmth into the room. The pub was nice and warm and we spent the evenings in there.

Clean enough but very small room. Breakfast waiter was surly as was the front office woman. Wifi is the speed of dial up so don't expect to use Skype. Try the calledonian hotel it is much more central

difficult to find a hotel that is nice in Ullapool, as most people come here to catch the ferry. But this place had wonderful beds and clean lovely ambiance. the hotel staff was really nice and breakfast was excellant included in the room. I only foundout about this hotel from another hotel, as it was not listed on internet under hotels here. Great place for one night or 2. ask for a room facing the water.

The presentation of this hotel on his website is totally different then the reality.
No elevator. Old furniture. The Italian restaurant: nothing real Italian. Bad food ( black langoustines).
