Macanao lodge has great accommodations. The rooms are comfortable, they have air conditioning, you receive a shampoo bottle, soap and lotion, 2 towels per guest, and a large water bottle. You have to remember Los Roques is a very inhibited place, with no large resorts and a very ‘roots’ style to it. The house is beautiful, colonial and grand, and the rooms have tall ceilings, which make them seem larger.
We stayed with a ‘bed and breakfast’ option, and here is where I was a little disappointed. First of all, we arrived to the island at 10:00, and went straight to change and run to the beach. We were told we wouldn’t receive our room until 16:00. This was a little disappointing because there seemed to be low occupancy at the moment, but we changed in the lobby restroom and left our bags there with the staff.
Secondly, we were told breakfast was served only between 8:30 and 9:30, which I felt was extremely rare. What if you’re an early bird or if you would like to sleep until 10:00? Just seemed a little drastic to be honest. For the price you are paying I thought they could be more flexible.
Other than that, the staff was super nice and welcoming, the breakfast was delicious, with generous portions, and drink-all-you-want coffee!More
