Better to stay in other areas - castellanas or las mercedes, you'll see a nicer side of the city. Area doesnt look nice and all locals told us it's not a good area. The staff doesnt seem happy and service is slow. The car that picked us was aaranges by hotel and it was a very nice driver. We also paid a lot - over 200 euros - and you dont get the services for that.

Restaurant was nice but too expensive ... To request internet on the room had to make a queue with all people doing check in ... No sense....

Everything is just bad there, totally unfriendly and not professional staff, a smile would be a smile...rooms are ok, but overpriced. We waited almost 2 hours to check-in, and another 90 minutes to check-out.
Never more again...

Service is terrible, the food is badly cooked or cold. The rooms stink of smokers. The decor is old and tattered, the carpets are smelly, Cannot believe you have to pay extra for the gym.. for internet... etc. etc. Wake up and smell the coffee.. It is 2011 not 1980.

I've been to this hotel twice, and the first time there were several problems I faced, but everything was resolved quickly, and the second stay was fantastic. Both times I stayed at the executive floor (deluxe room and junior suite) that included breakfast on the 14th floor, happy hours (lots of tasty food from 5 to 8 am, buffet) and free internet. Book the executive floor, it's worth the extra money, you get so much for it. Taxi is quite expensive if ordered through the hotel, but is safe, and it's not the last thing in Caracas. The hotel is located in a safe area, I went out alone and it was ok.

This hotel, once the best in town, is now on decline. I arrived at 3:00 a.m. because of a delayed flight. The lobby still looks nice, but the front desk service is terrible. Two receptionists took about 15 minutes to give me my room, which was not what I reserved. Once in the 5th floor, the carpets look dirty and there was a BIG stain in the carpet. The room was OK, but the carpet was also dirty showing many dark spots. The room decoration and furniture was the same I saw during my last visit to Venezuela 9 years ago. It certainly needs to be remodeled. The room was noisy because the window did not close well (nothing I could do about it). The lamp on the night table had a cable coming from the wall with a damaged switch, which was hot and is certainly a fire threat.

I had lunch at the "Mediterraneo" restaurant on L3, which consisted in a buffett. Food was not bad, but the cooks certainly took their time to prepare a simple pasta dish. When I went there to have dinner, I got surprised to see the dinner buffett had the same food they served for lunch. Dinner was $ 60.00 USD (1 Person) quite expensive for latin american standards.

The key to my room did not opened the door so I had to go down and request a new one. It took me 40 minutes to get a new key!

The japanese restaurant was good, but hardly affordable. A simple dinner (1 Tempura Soba-180 BF, 1 Tempura Icecream- 40BF, 1 coffe- 17, 1 Pepsi light- 19BF) turned out to be one of my most expensive dinners ever at $ 72.63 (Just one person)

Because of the currency restrictions imposed by the goverment, they are not supposed to accept US currency, but they do. Problem is, they use a very low exchange rate. As a result, it seems like waiters are chasing dollars to buy them for themselves and give you the change in Bolivares. Because of this, when I had a drink in the lobby bar the price was $ 17.50 USD (for one single bloody mary).

Just to finish my review, don´t expect to have a reliable internet connection. They don´t provide wireless nor cable connectivity in the rooms, claiming "the server is not assigning any passcodes", meaning "you can get it for free at the lobby". With so many passengers connecting at the same to the same moden in the lobby, the connection gets saturated, and becomes slow and unstable. They have to reset the modem once in a while-so you have to reconnect often.

At $ 270.00 USD per night, a $ 40 USD daily fee for using the gym, slow service, and expensive food, this is hardly a place I would recommend.
