While it is a bit further from the airport, and not in the nicest section of town, this is a very nice hotel. We stayed here for a night on the way to Santa Elena de Uairen (to climb Roraima) and another on the return trip. Three friends, each with a single room for about 12 dollars per person at the exchange rate I got.
The lobby was modern and nice, the rooms were clean and well air-conditioned. The beds were very comfortable, and the water was hot and had good pressure. The wifi worked, and had ok speed.
The food options nearby were not extensive, though there was a street food stand across the street that did a pretty good cheesesteak and another about two blocks away that had a bunch of locals eating hamburgers.
Long story short, if you are the kind of person who enjoys local color and don't mind a bit of a dodgier neighborhood, this hotel is an excellent option. I would stay here again.More
