This was our introduction to wild life in Madagascar and it was amazing. Paths were relatively easy and we saw lemurs, chameleons etc. for the first time in their own habitat.

Many trails to choose from. You have to have a guide. Ours was very knowledgeable. We were lucky to see a number of different lemurs, most within a reasonably close distance.

We were amazed at the undeveloped nature of this park. The roads in made the forest service roads back in Colorado look like super highways. A local guide is mandatory. We had John. I sure wish I had gotten his last name as he was unbelievably good. All the other guides sort of followed us around waiting for John to find things. This was moderately strenuous hiking up and down fairly rugged trails. I am 65 and in very good shape (ski, mountain bike, hike at 10,000'+ year round).

This was one of only a few areas in Madagascar with Primary Rain Forest still intact. We came to see endemic plants and animals and were not disappointed. Our local guide, Suholy, was able to help us spot 6 different species of lemurs including the Indri. Additionally, we saw many birds, chameleons and one family of nocturnal lemurs sleeping in the trees.

How spine thrilling to hear the call of the Indri echoing around the forest. Watching the indri and the diadem sifakas together was moving and wonderful. Less so were the antics of some humans shaking their tree and trying to climb up it until one of us stopped him. People please have more respect for the wildlife of this precious place.
