Yes it's a basic hotel like so many in Madagascar, but each room is its own little hut with a bathroom (shower, regular toilet), cleaned every day, with laundry service if you ask for it. The gardens are lovely and well maintained with a restaurant on premises that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, French style, excellent food for about $20 a plate with appetizer and a glass of wine. They also make their own flavored rum.

Hotel reservations are a little tricky, it depends on your degree of French, but be patient, the hotel is really one of the nicest in town and at $15 a night unbeatable value. I don't recommend the two rooms right behind the entrance, they are dingy and dark. All the other huts are great. We usually book 18 and 20, those are among the best and located in the back of the garden. The wifi booster is located on top of hut 18 I believe. Wife is typically slow, best in the morning, and better at the restaurant Chez Jenny's. Typical though, hard to get good wifi anywhere in Madagascar.

You want to book by phone and you will pay in cash. Water is heated by sun, so the best warm water in winter is in the evening.

I have stayed there twice now, my business partner has gone there for over 10 years and goes several times a year having stayed elsewhere and also all over Madagascar. For Antsirabe this is one of the nicest spots.

Room Tip: Rooms 18 and 20, 16. Not 1 and 2.

We stayed one night. It was ok'ish but wouldn't stay again as our door wouldn't lock from the outside. This meant we packed our backpacks and left them at reception while we had dinner next door. Cheap and a bit cheerful :)

The bungalows would need some renovation, especially the bath rooms, but they are clean and with mosquito nets, hot shower, the matrasses are very soft. When going in the evening to the bungalow a torch is recommended. There is some garden lights, but inadequate. The hotel rents bicycles, if you want to make a tour. Wi Fi is available, but does not work properly in the bungalows.

The room was not cleaned properly so we had to kill some spiders and mop off some spiderwebs before going to sleep. The garden is nice, but the room was very dark and the bathroom looked quite terrible - broken tiles, rusty, dirty walls etc. Maybe we just happened to have a bad experience, but after the first night we changed the hotel for the last (second) night in Antsirabe.

We stayed here on our way to and from Morondava. It was perfect for staying a night in Antsirabe and the price cannot be beaten. We were first in room 11 and that was great. Clean, good mosquito nets, quiet. There are little ponds on the property so there are a bit of mosquitoes but we never got bit. Chez Jenny, the restaurant on site, was wonderful as well. Convenient with great food. The people at the front desk were also incredibly friendly. We were in room 14 the second night and that was a little bit run down but could be easily straightened up with a little effort. Overall though we liked it a lot. I'd definitely go back and would recommend it to others.
