Owner description: Jardín de Cactus was the last intervention work César Manrique performed in Lanzarote. The artist from Lanzarote could see beyond how run down the ancient rofera was. Roferas were the quarries that raids are taken from to create a very particular home for cactaceae flowers from all over he world. Surrounded by the largest cactus plantation of the island, dedicated to crops of cochineal insect, a product of great financial relevance in Lanzarote in the 19th Century. Jardín de Cactus has around 4,500 specimens of 450 different species, of 13 different families of cactus from the five continents. The green shade of the plants stands out against the blue sky and the dark volcano creating a harmonious explosion of colour that impresses visitors. The only sounds that break the peace and quiet that prevails, are singing birds and boozing insects, enjoying their very own oasis.

Nice for people who are new on the island or for tourist. Nice small parc and great variation of plants. Also good restaurant and toilets, but you can finish after 30 min.

Having been to a few cactus gardens in the US I was expecting this to be very similar but I was wrong, this was miles better. The park is immaculately laid out and comprises of a huge number of perfect cactus plants, many that we had never seen before. A great way to spend a couple of hours or so.

Well laid out garden - huge cactus plants, some with flowers and ponds with lillies also in flower.

The windmill is a landmark - climb to the top - amazing view for miles - overlooking the coast, the grape vines and also the Aloe Vera plants.

Check the entrance to the toilets!

Wonderful development of an old quarry, with thousands of cacti arranged in a way that every view is interesting, even when you turn back and look where you have come from, good cafe there with tapas, helpful staff and lovely cold beer. Recommend even if cacti are not your thing!
