Initially thought this was along way to go for a weekend break, but it turned out to be well worth it. We arrived on the Friday afternoon and left on the Monday morning feeling quite relaxed. Our room was spacious, clean and well equipped and the balcony had a lovely view across the ocean. There are actually three resorts all linked together; Kole Kole, Baobab and Maridadi. Each one has its own dining area and swimming pool and offers something slightly different and you are free to move around and use all the facilities. We tended to like the Maridadi which we found to be the quietest part.
Temperatures can be hot but you do get a lovely sea breeze and the air con in the rooms works well.
Food wise there is a good choice but the restaurants on the all inclusive plan are buffet style. If you wish to be have waiter service then you will need to use the alacarte restaurants and pay a supplement.
There is a lovely white beach along the length of the resort but be warned you will be approached by the local tradesman pedalling their goods or trying to sell you various excursions.
All in all it was a good visit and all though we only spent the weekend it felt much longer .

we stayed there as part of a big group last easter.
the hotel was full and we were lucky our agent managed to get us kole kole wing. The pool is the best.
food was pretty standard and they have a good snack bar. they need to improve on the variety of pizzas though as it was either margherita or one other flavour. what if you are vegetarian and want some other toppings? not possible!!!!

what really put us off about this hotel and none of the group will ever return was the sheer lack of sensitivity to vegetarians shown by the hotel.
the dinner one night had live crabs and the chefs were laughing and showing the moving crabs to the people and then throwing them into boiling water to kill them.

If you must serve meat then do so, but is it necessary to kill the crabs in the buffet offering? We have no problem with people eating meat as its their choice but where will they stop? will they slaughter goats at the table next?

This was very tasteless of them and really made us all have nightmares about it. many from the group will never agree to visit this resort again.

really dissapointing visit.

Expensive dinner as non-resident
Paid Kshs. 2,000 a head for buffet dinner as a non resident. I guess the price is designed to discourage non residents from showing up ad hoc to dine. The food was ok though not anywhere close to what I would pay for that price. The service was good and looked like a good place only if you're a resident.

Kolekole is beautiful. Rooms are spacious, airy and clean. Grounds are well kept. The kids Club & environment .... fantastic. Improvements needed in:
Food variety - very poor
Room towels & tissue paper- discoloured - should be pure white, fluffy & soft.
Wi-Fi- very baf
TV channels & reception - poor

The hotel is nice with nice big rooms. The animation group was the best. They had entertainment all day through. The evening performances were awesome. The pool is child friendly. The flip side was the breakfast. It lacked variety and was full of wheat products. We made a request about having something different but unfortunately that did not happen. We were also charged for late check out as much as we have had informed them of our departure time and we were to leave after lunch.

Room Tip: always ask about the check out policy.
