We had a nice room, well maintained and appointed. Bathroom clean, shower worked well. Short walk to the historic centre and shopping. There is a pool and other amenities we did not get a chance to use.

Profcon is a very ugly name (consider changing it, Profcon People), but we found it to be a very reasonably priced, well-appointed resort that exceeded our expectations. There is a pool, kids' play area with two (tame) zip lines that our kids enjoyed and a jumping castle (though the play area is mostly best for younger kids), putt-putt, and DSTV. The kids had their own room and there was a kitchen.

It is a fairly large resort that includes a camp-site area, so it can get quite busy. It is probably not the best place if peace and quiet is top of your list.

The town of Graaff-Reinet is incredibly beautiful and definitely worth a visit.

We were less excited about the valley of desolation. It offers a great view of the town and surrounding hills, though it was not unmissable. We saw none of the animals that allegedly reside there, and it was a somewhat over-rated experience at the price. Worth doing if you are not feeling budget conscious.

On the negative side, there is good wifi if you are close to the source, but signal was weak and intermittent in our room. There is DSTV (Mnet and sport channels), though our TV only got one of the promised bouquet of Mnet channels (and I spent ages skipping through hundreds of blocked channels wondering if any of them would work; it would help frustration levels if they were removed entirely). The water was quite brackish to our taste, so consider bringing your own drinking water.

On the whole, the positives far outweigh the negatives.

Don't bother to visit or stay-over at this place, especially when you're a person of ccolor. We were treated very badly. The welcoming was cold, aloof and unprofessional. On the day of departure, my daughter & cousins we were basically chased out of the room before 10:00. We were not informed about the wifi, departure time etc. I was told not to make a noise in the loft room because the people below will be complaining. Moreover, I was told that No visitors are allowed after 22:00, already insinuating that we're noisy people.

Resort in the town center of Graff-Reinet. Walking distance to main attractions. Resort a mix of suites, self catering and self camping. Clean. Rooms in home style decor. Not all rooms have aircon, but only a fan. Wifi in hot spots areas. Good option for families, not great for couples.

Room tip: Not all rooms have air con.....

Thank goodness for the electric blankets. It was only 12 degrees in the room when we woke up. Our room was equipped for making our own meals with kitchen and a kitchen table. The resort has large grounds.
