We live in Shanghai, so we are accustomed to the usual “complaints” associated with Chinese hotels, and they all hold true here: the beds are hard, even the “non-smoking” rooms smell like smoke, the front desk staff speak minimal English, etc.
The hotel on the whole is very good, and we only spent one night because we had an overnight layover on the way to Laos.
My only issues with the hotel were that the Air Con didn’t work properly, never cooling the room below 24; we arrived at 1am from the airport with a baby in tow, so we were hot and sticky, desperately wanting AC. My other minor quibble is that they charged us for two additional bottles of water, one of which was for the baby so I could make is bottle. It just seemed a bit cheap for a “luxury hotel” to ding us 30rmb for some extra water. Overall it was fine for an overnight, but the night was warmer and more humid than I had expected given the high ratings here. More
