Casa Del Mar is billed as an Eco Lodge and it truly has a smaller footprint than many others. No recycling of all the plastic bottles means they end up on the beach below or in the trash though and no solar panels mean your fan goes off when power is cut-daily. It’s a lovely place that needs sprucing up. Hot water if you ask is available and the food is good. Better food down the road at Casa Bonita if you want salads and amazing veggies. Rip tides mean you can’t really swim here but the pool is delightful. No working hot tub but you can sit in the cold water which can be refreshing after a hot day. If you have a car it is a great place to be based for exploring the southwest.

Thank you for your kind review, to give you some information that maybe you did not ask directly to the management. we can show you the electric production of our solar panels, which in addition to the natural air coming from the sea front can move every fan installed in the rooms 24 hours a day. you have been able to see the general problem of the Dominican Republic with regard to rubbish, we can not rightly maintain control over the management of other people's garbage, but we know how to manage ours. rightly the open sea of the caribbean, in certain periods of the year generates strong tides, on one side they are a pleasant sensation being able to sleep beside the sea, on the other unfortunately they always carry rubbish, which I can guarantee do not belong to us. you have been able to see for yourself that every morning with our wonderful sunrise at 6 in the morning you have forgone the cleaners of the beach, unfortunately we have the strength and resources to maintain our area. I really hope that the nual and general environment of this wonderful island will help us and have the same spirit to grow and preserve as much as possible. maybe you did not have time to visit our vegetable garden and our vegetable productions. but the price list of our menu I think you've seen it. I really hope I can see you again with us. Best regards from all of us at Casa del Mar Lodge. Constantino Solfato

Went to this property with my family since we were exploring the south and looking through the options available this was the best one in regards to location and price, on the ranking of price from most to least expensive this hotel is #2 but from what me and my family experienced we would say this is #1. This place is very cozy and very well maintained and you can tell that from the get-go, the staff is very friendly (s/o to Wilmy) and they make you feel like they are always expecting to help you out but without you feeling like you are being stalked, the hotel is a B&B but the restaurant is open for you to purchase lunch and dinner, since we just wanted somewhere nice to sleep we only tried food once and it was totally worth it. We had the rooms in the villa #1 and on the first floor, we saw the ones on the second floor which allow 4 adults in it but we rather have the ones in the first floor paying a bit more but it's totally worth it, you have a nice view of the ocean and also furniture on the terrace looking to the sea, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to people with small children who wouldn't be checking on them 24/7 since the property is built on a hill and there are no activities for small children but cable tv, this hotel is more like for grown up, the ambient is very relaxed and the fact that they are building more room yet you won't hear a thing is very impressive. The beds are comfy but since this is an eco-hotel they don't have A/C but this is a problem they can solve right away with a couple of fans, we were able to leave our rooms open for days and not worry about anything being stolen. last but not least they have a dog in the property, it's a very quiet pet, sometimes we wouldn't realize it was next to us until the very last minute, sometimes he's just checking if everything is alright or just looking to be pet. In general, I find it hard to find a reason to complain about this property or their service. Keep up the exceptional service!!!

Barahona is a rustic place.. Tourism here is more eco-tourism since its not a very developed province. Casa del Mar is Eco-Tourism almost at its best.

Depending on the room that you get, either 2-storey buildings or not, you will get a gorgeous view or a more eco feel.

The staff is great and very very helpful, almost certainly they will get the moon to you if you ask for it.

Rooms have not AC, they have a feeling of nature, there is warm/hot water in them and everything is clean! The beds are comfy!

One may dislike if you have insects or gekos in your room but that is part of nature.

Great place!
Would return!

Room tip: Rooms on the top east side have amazing views!

Excellent ocean view.

We stay for 12 nights.

The staff is absolutely great. Luis, Maria, Chino, Jerdson, Pepe, Sabrina were extremly friendly and professionals.
Costantino the Manager was very professional from the beginning, solving all needs and always present.

I suggest to open the restaurant to the public and low the price for the ones renting.
I found the service great but the price expensive for a drink for example. I come from Bavaro and honestly the structure itself doesn t justify the price. It is my point of view.

The fridge had a water leaking into the floor of the kitchen, half of the time the shower was too cold, the beach full of garbish. I understand that comes from the ocean and that in barahona you have less resources and the reason why I found overall too expensive. If you offer a price like bavaro you can t use the area lacks as an excuse. You should compensate with investment.

The breakfast is very good and the view of the sunrise together with the service of the staff is for 6 stars. But for example the quality of the ham or the orange juice is cheap and made the overall service a bit lower.

The roof is of cana, no problem but needs a better maintainance. Few holes and a lots of bees and wasp honeycomb on the terrace, reparation in the rooms. My wife got sting by one that felt from the roof while having dinner.

The place is nice. I suggest a bit more of investment from the Property because the Manager, the Staff and the view is for more then 5 stars. The rooms and the lack of maintance is beetwen 2 and 3 stars.

The pool is nice but the paint wasn t dry probably when they filled and you may have pieces floating in midlewater.

Watch out to the ceiling fan on the room, it is to low and the two of us got injured while takiing out the t shirt.

The doors of the room don t close but the place is 100% safety. It is very nice to sleep with all the windows opened and just listen the music of the waves.

The guy of maintanance is absolutly great, he never stop from the morning until 5 PM. With at least another guy like him the beach could be better.

The massage is very good and not expensive. It is made at 5 meters from the ocean.

Last comment, I suggest this place if you have kids above 4 years old, it is not prepared for kids under. I have a 19 months and I had a bit of stress with the sliding floor, stairs and potential hazard of falls. It can be easy corrected with some more investment on protections. Honestly I could have realized from the pictures.

Overall I really liked and I give 4 stars. I strongly recommend to visit Barahona area. It is very similar to Maui Hawaii!

One more time thanks a lot to Costantino and his Staff. You were really the best and you made our stay Great. Thank to you the little issues and lacks are not so important anymore.

We will be back.

PS: if you surf there is a right just in front!

Thank you

Best regards

Dear friend,
thank you for being with us. we take your information as important suggestions and to be implemented. we try to keep the consumption prices slightly higher than the cost. the deep south does not have the purchasing power like Bavaro and therefore this means that everything is much more expensive. this is why we are very competitive on raw materials and fresh. but every imported bottle or dry has higher costs than European countries. we really hope to see you and the family again with us.
Best regards and saludos cordiales de parte de todos Casa del Mar Lodge.
