A very good hotel at a fantastic and private beach. Nice rooms with an outdoor shower.
Beatiful sunsets.
Very good service.
Nice food at the two restaurants, especially at the Italian restaurant. Make sure you book a table so you get one of the best tables outside.
Great spa.
At the beach you can borrow a paddle board or a kayak.
Over all: A very nice place that we would love to come back to one day.

The best thing about the hotel from our viewpoint is that both restaurants offered excellent cuisine. In particular, the Italian restaurant, Di Mare, provided the BEST Italian food I have tasted outside of Italy! We ate there several times enjoying both the food and the ambiance (the setting is right by the beach). The service here was also excellent - on our last evening, we were given a complimentary dessert which was a lovely thoughtful gesture. The Arundina Thai restaurant seemed to offer a good menu but we are not experts - we did enjoy the set menu and it seemed good value. The annoying thing about the Arundina was the 'live duo band' each evening - not to our taste (altho we did enjoy the saxophonist one evening). Happy hour sunset aperitifs were lovely but we were surprised they didn't use the upstairs bar area more often - especially when it got busy. We also found it strange that wine is not offered as a choice as one would normally expect.

We had a deluxe room upstairs overlooking the pool. Quite comfortable and we appreciated the coffee machine, kettle, fresh milk (yes!) and daily biscuits/treats as well as the mini-bar with some free drinks. Sitting outside on the balcony we could hear the extremely loud air conditioner from the rooms below which rather spoilt this enjoyment.

I have to say I HATED the outside bath and shower. This is mosquito heaven and I'm a magnet! The bath area is desperate for a refurb - it looked very dark and dingy, more like a back yard (that said it was useful as a laundry area!). I could not bring myself to use the bath or shower after dark. I had one close encounter in the bedroom with a horrible beetle and that was enough. I am not criticising the hotel for this insect activity - it is normal for the area and the hotel staff dealt with it promptly.

The restaurant staff and those serving the beach (in particular Miss P who served us with cold drinks and lunch most days) were very charming and attentive. Housekeeping was a bit ad hoc - some days we got beach towels and some days not. I was not particularly impressed by the receptionist who showed us around (I won't name her for maybe it was an off day) but she didn't seem to take my concerns seriously - she just giggled when I mentioned my worries about the insect activity in the outdoor bathroom and said there wasn't any - then showed us the indoor plug-in mosquito repellent! We were ordered to remove our shoes and wear used flip-flops left by the door - yes I know this is the custom etc etc., but I arrived with a foot problem, I tried to explain but bossy Ms insisted shoes off! Not a good start ...

The gardens and beach areas are both lovely. The bean bags on the beach were not for us - not enough shade and too uncomfortable/hot. We did use the few garden sunloungers but more umbrellas are needed here as the tree shade is limited. Thus seating by or on the beach is very limited but there is plenty of seating around the pool although again shade can be hard to find if you are not a sun worshipper. We also made use of the hotel's bikes twice. It is a fairly easy ride through the nearest village to the next beach viewpoint and we did see a troop of monkeys crossing the road! As the hotel is quite remote, it was nice to escape for a while just for a change of scene. Taxis are expensive and it is too far to walk to the village. There is a small beachside restaurant and cafe a short walk up the beach but no shop.

Overall we had an enjoyable week. I would return here but would perhaps think about the room choice more carefully. I am not sure if all rooms have only an outside shower but if so, this would make me think twice. Other than that, the Italian restaurant is worth the trip!

Dear LoveFrenchWine,

Thank you very much for taking your time to share your valuable review.

We are pleased to read that you have enjoyed our Italian and Thai cuisines, hotel ambience and restaurant staff service during your one week stay. Your kind words have been passed onto the restaurant staff, especially Miss P (Somporn) who did excellent work. Your positive feedback will definitely motivate them to keep up their good works.

We acknowledged your comment about the room condition. Our engineering team has been informed and the improvement has taken place immediately. We apologize for the imperfect services from housekeeper and receptionist during your stay. We should have moved your room to a pool villa with indoor bathroom. We are definitely needed to pay more attention and implement proper training to lift up these areas to better service for future guests. Your comments on these issues are very much appreciated.

Thank you once again for sharing your experience with us. We hope that we will have another opportunity to welcome you again at the Tubkaak Krabi. Please feel free to let us know if you may seek for any assistance.

Best regards,

Sunyadech Srimanee

I can’t thank the amazing staff at Tubkaak enough for making our honeymoon so relaxing and enjoyable.

Nestled against the beach & adjacent to the Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, this resort is a tranquil getaway for those who want to relax and re-energise. It boasts a superb spa, two excellent restaurants and a health & fitness facility.

For those who want to enjoy Ao Nang, Krabi and nearby islands it’s easy to organise a boat trip , road transport or hire a car (Walking not so viable as its quite a distance).

Some reviews mention high prices for food and drink, however I think this is when comparing to street food or smaller restaurants who don’t have the same overheads etc. We felt the prices we comparable to what we would expect to pay back in the UK.

The architecture of the site and feeling at one with nature is very cleverly achieved. Ultimately though it’s the staff that really make it, attending to every detail with wonderful Thai enthusiasm and affection.

Welcoming and happy staff! Right on the beach front set around a beautiful pool and garden. The rooms are clean and quiet!!
Restaurants serve with Thai or Italian. Lovely tasty food! Plenty of free water in your room. They even provide a beach bag towels, flip flops and fan. Plus mossy cream.
The Yoga is most days with a really lovely lady who speaks incredibly GOOD English! Very enjoyable. Boats go from the beach on trips to Hong Island etc! GO EARLY morning before the crowds. It is possible to see monkeys on one island.

We stayed in a Deluxe Room (an upstairs room overlooking the pool) which was more than adequate - and surprisingly quiet and private. The room was well prepared and kept clean throughout our stay - with clean towels (including the beach/pool towels) renewed daily. Complimentary coffee pods and fruit replenished daily - plus small snack plates - were much appreciated.

Both the pool and beach were pleasant - easy to get loungers - albeit the side tables were rarely cleared of drinks/plates left by previous occupants.

We used both restaurants - the food was pretty good - and the ‘happy hour cocktails’ at sunset most enjoyable.

All the staff were very pleasant and thoroughly helpful - in particular the reception staff. We booked - through the hotel - a longtail boat trip to Hong Island(s) and this was really good value - about GBP50 for the entire morning thru’ early afternoon.

The Tubkaak location is a tad isolated - there are a couple of beach bars - and the overall beach is not very extensive - about 45 minutes end-to end walk at low tide.

Room Tip: Room 14 was ‘upstairs overlooking the pool’ and very quiet - next to the gym - so no late night noise or passers-by
