If you only read one review - read this one. I picked this location (on cheapcaribbean.com) based on the large number of reviews and highest overall rating. I looked at the reviews I could see (which was only 6 or so) and there was a mix of positive/negative, but with the overall rating, I felt confident.
Dinner - as soon as you get checked in, make your dinner reservations (honestly before you even get to your room - as soon as you check in at the front desk). Yes there are SOME buffets you can eat at for dinner, however they are not as good quality food or customer service. We ran into the first night there trying to make reservations for the rest of the week with VERY limited options. We tried at first to do it on the app with only reserving 2 nights of dinners for the 5 nights (and they weren't the places we REALLY wanted). The next day we went to hotel's customer service and they helped us book the rest of the days BUT the times available were very limited (like super early or super late dinner) AND still not the places we really wanted to go to.
Room - there were times our shower did not have any hot water. The shower door would not close, causing water to get on the floor. The bath tub, the nozzle was not completely over the tub, so only a half of the water would go in the tub, the other half on the side. The beds are extremely hard. We dumped out our drinks in the sink (brought a reusable cup to keep drinks colder on the beach) and even with rinsing the sink, a bunch of small ants were everywhere around the area (and I had already seen them in other areas of the room). There was a large bug on the floor too and leftover chip from the last guests in the closet. The lockbox/safe in the closet was difficult to get locked with passcode in, and then started saying that the battery was low, so I was not confident I could later get into it. We brought this to the resort's attention and they said someone would come soon. Over 30 minutes later we called again and they said it could be 1.5 hours and we had to be in the room for them to replace the safe (but the other stuff - hot water and shower door) they could fix without us there. We gave up on waiting about the safe and the other issues never got resolved.
My advice if you go - book dinner as soon as you arrive and make sure you have a suitcase or something that locks so you don't have to rely on the safe (luckily we had that - although still not ideal).
Food was okay but if you go towards the end of hours open (breakfast, lunch, etc.) food is picked over, cold, and in general any time, customer service is poor. You may wait forever to get a drink - if you get it at all.
Dinner places you could reserve were better quality food in general, but most were not the best or what I would pay for (if it wasn't included).
Alcohol provided on the beach/pool seemed to be watered down (unless you go to lobby bar or restaurant). Some restaurants you had to buy a bottle of wine if you wanted alcohol (vs. it being provided).
Tip - you have access to other Grand Palladium resorts, so go to the Secrets adult pool if you aren't traveling with children. Much quieter, different music played, better/stronger/less watered down alcohol and better service (don't wait forever for a drink).
Spa - the spa is wonderful! Luckily we booked a massage early on so we realized the secret with the spa. The spa has a pool area with chairs in the pool (aqua massage) and several beach beds (and a couple of types of beds) including sauna, hot tub, and the ice plunge area. There's also a restaurant free there with sandwiches and they'll make fresh smoothies with fruit of your choice. There's a mud area (spa mud) you can use yourself for free. We spent a lot of time there.
It is a maze at the resort though, so it takes awhile to get to where you are going and you will get lost for awhile. It can be frustrating (and others got lost too).
The pool was nice and the beach too. It was a nice trip still but the food, alcohol, and parts of the room were less than desirable.
