Highly recommend Petra kitchen for a good meal and a bit of fun. We met some interesting people and learnt a few new kitchen skills. Easy walk from the Movenpick Hotel. The shop upstairs also supports local crafts.

“Not value for money”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2012

It is expensive and while the staff are very courteous and friendly, and the food good, we did not learn much.
It is supposed to be like a cooking class but we were chopping parsley ! That was our class for the night. The soup was already cooked, the tomato broth was already boiling, the rice was already done, the dough was done !
All they taught us was how to chop tomatoes, garlic and parsley. and how to roll the pastry . That is all !!!
You have to ask them how the soup is made before they tell you " this soup has chicken broth, beans, ++++++ "
Certainly no masterclass ! I learned more from Masterchef in my own lounge at home.
Recipes given can be browsed from the internet.
Price is ridiculous ! JD 50.
Staff are only attentive to the pretty girls and left the rest of us alone chopping tomatoes and parsley !

The food is salty and has too much vinegar.

However, to be fair, the sense of visitors working together and having dinner together in a clean kitchen is a wonderful evening!

“Great experience but crowds larger than expected”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2012

Not sure if we were there when there was a large tour group, but there were almost 50 people in the cooking lesson so we ended up chopping vegetables for an hour and then watching while others cooked. I learned lots and loved the food - fantastic! I was just expecting a more intimate experience and I was a little concerned about the hygene as people were dipping their latex-gloved fingers into the salads to taste. I don't think the chefs should have encouraged people to do that. It made it a lot less appetizing.

“The most fun we had”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2012

What I liked most about this experience was the chance to meet other tourists from the around the world. While walking around Petra, no one talks to any other tourist. But here, you're forced to. My group clicked and we had an incredible time cooking, drinking, and eating. We loved every minute of it.

“A great cooking class-well worth it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2012

My husband, daughters (13 & 11) went to cooking class here one evening. What an awesome experience. The kitchen is very clean. We made an entire meal, including dessert. We were able to enjoy it with our family and all the wonderful people at Petra Kitchen that evening. Certainly a must-do in Petra.
